I put on a elbow, the kind with the seperated exhuast gas and wastegate gas. and 3inch pipe from the elbow back to the cat-back. I had the exhuast shop make the downpipe but it ended up costing me $175 to make it and put it and the elbow on, so I think I would recomend just buying the premade ones and slapping it on yourself, probably be the same price, and look better!
However on the performance end, at first I was disapointed. But after a few minutes i realized the turbo had come loose from the manifold. So i tightened it up the best i could but you can’t do it perfect without droping the manifold I have been told, so i shall have to do that sometime. Anyway, after all that, It felt like it had less power because the power band was alot smoother. ALOT!! which is neat. There is no noticable spool up, the power is just there, and it comes on smoothly and predictably. But it doesn’t give you that shove back into your seat it used to. And at the high RPM’s it feels like it has less pull, like it used to pull harder and harder as the RPM’s got higher. But I think that might be because it reaches full spool up at a lower RPM as I am still running stock boost levels.
Anyway…I would recomend doing your exhuast from the turbo all the way back to anyone as it was cheap and created a noticable difference. But I think next time I would just buy the elbow, and downpipe pre-made and just have the exhuast shop make a pipe from the downpipe to the cat-back.
Hope that help someone make an educated decision.
