Question about CCC

Are there anybody here who used CCC before?

CCC = http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html

Supposedly a tool which can clone the whole HD…and make it bootable…

I just got myself an old G4 which has a 10G and 60G HD…currently, the OS X is installed in 10G…which is old, slow, and loud.

I’m thinking about “moving” it to the 60G HD with this tool, format the 10G, and run the G4 from the 60G…is this do-able with this tool?

Spec: OS X 10.2.8, 400Mhz G4 with 1G RAM and ATI RAGE 128 Pro.
Is it possible to run OS X 10.4 with this spec???

BTW, FYI, i do not have the copy of OS X…therefore i can’t format the HD.

P.S. I’m very new with Mac stuff…

oof, that might be rough…

Will it run, yea probably, will you be able to USE it? probably not.

How will you be cloning the drive? (USB enclosure, put it into a desktop)

i thought this might of been about drugs…

^Lol…

Actually, it works!!!

I’m actually typing right now from the ‘clone’ copy of my OS X in the other hard drive!

Carbon Copy Cloner rocks!!! Very very easy to do…very smooth!

I clone my OS X to the newer HD, boot from the other HD…and format the old HD…
I’m very surprised on how silence the newer HD is…the 10G HD is really loud!!!

it’s a GREAT piece of software, another to try is SuperDuper! - both do about the same, SD is better @ Permissions.

im very surprised on how well it works…

i can’t imagine doing this on windows PC…

i made an image of my OS X…and save it on my external HD…just for a backup…

to think about it, this is really really neat. for example, if the HD on my mac crashed and unrecoverable, i can simply buy a new HD…and restore my OS X into the new HD from disk image… very nice!
