Find an independent place for the loan, the process for a goverment loan is nuts.

Go to the library they have books about starting a small business in NY. Usually by the reference section.

Funding for a small business start-up can come from a myriad of sources.
This has nothing to do with funding, but is something you may want to consider, nonetheless. I ran a small business for 5 years. My passion was guns. I went to trade school and learned to become both a machinist, and a gunsmith. “Heck”, everybody told me, “if you have to earn a living, you might as well earn a living doing something you love.”
It took about 1 year to realize that making a living from something I loved, took every last ounce of “love” and “fun” right out of it.
