Quick/easy question for Outlook nerds

THANK YOU GUYS!!!

Seriously, change my title, I don’t think they are a fad I just hate them.

Ok so I up graded to this decade and now have a question for the new version of outlook. I am not getting emails because my mail box is full. How do I set the new version of outlook to delete emails on the server that I have read? Of course the assholes at microsoft have changed the way you do it. It used to be in advanced settings but I can’t find anything like that on the new version.
Thanks,
Dad

So I stumped you nerds? Seriously though I need an answer.

you didn’t give us enough information and we didn’t feel like pestering you with questions

what version of outlook
what type of email account (exchange/pop/imap/http)

edit:

Outlook 2010 has the option checked by default to leave a copy of the messages on the servers for 14 days. To disable this option, Click on the File Tab, Account Settings…, Account Settings. Double click on your account, click More Settings button, Advanced Tab, Uncheck leave copy of messages on server.

It would help if you said more than “new version”. I’m running 2007 and “Delete from server” is still under the advanced tab for your account settings.

I made the silly assumption that if it was recently updated, 2010 was put on there. Let us know if that’s not the case.

^^Thank you very much. It seems easy once you see how to do it. I read that and thought it was for adding accounts.

glad we got you fixed up

now get back to NOT learning how to use google.com

You could also create a .PST file that’s not on the server.

Oh it is just Google?!? I thought it was “The Google”!

I don’t know what I would do without you guys… seriously. lol

Thanks again.

Wouldn’t unchecking that box basically be making whatever client POP3?

I couldn’t tell you what it was but I happen to see POP3 when I was in settings. lol

I do know that I can’t send an automatic email when I am out of town because we have an extrenal email service or whatever. Ghey.

You can create rules and stuff that will do certain things if you are ambitious.

Explaining that just seems to be the equivalent of teaching your mother to text…

one step at a time there boxxa

I guess I have to put up with the shots if I expect to get help on here. lol

POP3 FTL!
We have people at work that mistakenly configure their home computer as pop3 instead of imap and then wonder why they don’t have any email when they check at work the next day. LUL

Next question…

Outlook is asking for a network password which it does not normally ask for. After entering the network password the window pops up again in a few seconds asking for it again and never gets new mail. WTF is that all about?

Internet connection probably dropped while outlook was open. You might need to enter your domain with the username like DOMAIN\username and then enter your password…best bet is to reboot.

Tried the reboot thing. All other work stations are getting email just fine so maybe that station? Although on that station other network applications seem to work. (?)
