Quick Oil Pan Removal

Hia people

I need some suggestions on oil pan removal for s14 without having to drop the cross-member. FSM got me lost on the “suitable hoist” part since I don’t have a hoist yet. I read somewhere it’s possible to raise the tranny by bellhousing but it was vague / for s13 & details were missing.

Before I hurry and drop the engine through the floor, I’d appreciate a point-by-point or better yet - w/pics run-through as I need to finish all of the setup in 6 days.

Thanks guys!

just loosen motor mount nuts, and place a floor jack right in between the transmission and the engine. jack up and remove oil pan. pretty simple job.

Yeah it was quite easy - thanks Brian!

it’s off and going to be tagging on the bung 8)

for anyone who’s interested in first-time doer details…

  1. remove sway bar

  2. loosen single mount bolts on the engine mount brackets (1 on each side)

  3. raise engine + tranny by bellhousing with jack lever from the rear so you can get at the bolts

  4. remove protective oil pan covers / tranny brackets? 3 bolts (14s) on passenger side and 4 on driver’s side + 2 metal brackets come off - this allows you to get at those unseen oil pan bolts

  5. remove oil pan bolts (10m’s)

  6. gently pry the oil pan off around the edges

  7. remove the oil pump head thingy inside the oil pan (2 x 12 m bolts)

  8. idle for a minute with cold beer
