Well I’m glad to hear you haven’t totally given up on school. Maybe going out and working for awhile will be good for you. But if you seriously plan on going back… don’t wait too long. It is extremely hard to get anything done once kids and husbands show up. My personal opion is that all “kids” should have to work before they start college. It is too hard at 18 years old to decide the rest of your life. I couldn’t even decide what jeans to wear at 18.
My personal experience was to get into the work force and start following my path. Which means I started working and saw where my natural skill was. Believe it or not… my natural skill is not in PC Support but in customer support… that single skill has taken me far. It has taken me from $3.15 an hour (old minimum wage) up to $50,000 per year.
Good luck… not that you need it. You’re a bright young lady… you’ll do fine.
Stay in school, keep trying. Out in the real world in a career, you’ll watch complete idiots with college degrees get chosen for promotions and better jobs simply because they have their degree. It really sucks.
+1 I think 18 is WAY too young to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life! I have my degree in Psychology…then after I graduated I realized that I couldn’t tell MYSELF how to feel, let alone others heehee…I guess I used the degree for 8 years bartending :dunno: LOL But since then, it’s a piece of paper hanging on the wall saying that I can go to school on my own volition and pass. I think it’s impt these days to have a degree on some level, for interviews and stuff, but on the other hand, there are ppl making millions of dollars that have NO degree…
We’re looking for someone to take over part of our digital media group here in DC!
I think you are making the right decisions. Even knowing what you want to do is more then half the battle. At 29 I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up - although I’m getting there
Ummm, I don’t want to strip- good money yes… but nobody wants to see a 65 year old stripper at her retirement party… I am still thinking about Art school.
