R.I.P Atsushi Kuroi

This was posted yesterday on speedhunters. RIP Kuroi

Some very sad news out of Japan today. Veteran D1 driver Atsushi Kuroi has passed away after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Kuroi was popular not just in Japan, but in all the countries where he drove. Anyone who’s seen him drive knows the kind of talent this man had behind the wheel of his Nissan One-Via. Besides being known as a great driver, he also made a name for himself with his River Side tuning shop in the Osaka area.

I feel very fortunate having the opportunity to see him in both the US and Japan.

Our thoughts are with his family and his friends.

RIP Kuroi =(

RIP. Motorcycles are dangerous…

Riverside was on my to do list. I met him years ago, great guy. I will post up some pics of him in honour of his unfortunate passing, giving you guys a glimpse into Riverside and the impact he had on the Osaka scene.

RIP. Kuroi and thank you for showing me what drifting was and creating memories that will be fondly remembered for the rest of my life. I have always been heavily influenced by the Osaka scene, one you were instrumental in shaping. Next time I jump in my 240, it will be for you, no fear, no limits, no regrets, in your honour. I owe a lot of my fast behind the wheel progress to you. I don’t think I’d be half the driver I have become and will continue to become without your influence of driving and spirit. When my RB screams like it never has before, it"ll be for you. Than k you very much for being so influential on something I love.

WHAT!!! no way…! That is shocking news. I have to look into this more. R.I.P

RIP to the one of the best.

WTF?

i met that guy, have his autograph on a shirt in my closet.

Yes,i have his autograph on a poster above my bed as well as photos with him.

He was one of my teenage heroes. I even adopted the nickname Crazy Max based on the Osaka crew of the same name which I have been known by for many many years now. I also have the Trust oil cooler from the Drifter X car he totaled in my basement. It’s unreal just how much stuff I have around here that is somehow tied to him in one way or another.

RIP Kuroi =(
sad day for the drifting community, indeed…

rip

Oh that’s horrible. I hung out with him when I was in Osaka back in 2006. Origin had a drift day organized and went for some runs in his onevia! That car was absolutely insane and on the tight track never gained traction once it was spinning almost the whole way! Even though I should have thought better his car had a shady stock seat and a non working OE seatbeat! I had no helmet either but trusted the mans skills and braced myself in the car.

RIP Kuroi your passing makes us all realize we are fragile and anything can and will happen. I like to go fast and take risks but am never reckless. Knock on wood I have never had an accident… Keep your head up and know your limits.

You know, Life goes fast. Especially when it’s unexpected. Good thing he was doing what he loved. If anything, i’d be happy leaving this earth knowing i’ve inspierd alot of people and doing what i loved most just as he did. R.I.P Kuroi

Tino.

When I heard about this my heart dropped. He was one of the greats. I don’t think anyone got angle like he did
