are some parts interchangeable? my friend has a '79 horizon and he needs some parts that are hard to find for horizons. also, can you change out the front clip to rabbit?

I don’t think any of the sheetmetal is interchangeable but the early Horizon/Omnis had a VW engine under the hood.

u can basically physically drop any vw 4 banger motor in there. the omni used vw’s 1.7 liter motor. the mounting tab on the vw 1.7 has pretty much been the same the entire way up to 2005–and maybe even 2006 but dont know as havent ripped one apart yet.
tranny wise, omni shit is different. thats why vw guys are using the omni auto trans from this setup–as we take the omni 1.7 tranny/flex plate/converter/starter and beef it up w/ the later 2.2 auto guts. but the shit bolts right up to any of our 4 banger blocks. however, we need to fab mounts for the tranny to make it work.
sheetmetal wise, not a direct fit, but i would think w/ some effort probably do-able. dont know for certain though…
