i’m interested in a detector.
I hear the Valentine 1 is susposed to be the best. I’ve also heard of the passport 8500 which is susposed to be very good also.

I had a shitty Cobra for a little, decided to upgrade after seeing my friends Escort 8500. Thats what I got, works awesome, hardly any false signals except when in a shopping plaza, saved me a couple times on the trips down to JJ’s. I was getting signals over three miles away. It has actually won many awards for everything, its small, much easier to set up than the V1.
anybody have any experience with the phazer 2 jammer? it seems like it can’t be beat if it really works the way they say it does.
I have an old Beltronics Vector, I’m sure it does not have the pick up of the new ones but it works well enough for me… picks up at least a mile in advance.
Jammers are illegal in PA, whereas detectors arent. They used to both be, but from what I know detectors are legal now. Get caught using a jammer, and Im sure its a big time fine.
Ive heard jammers can be upwards of a $75k fine… and i’m not kidding

A number of states do ban radar jammers, but in Pennsylvania radar jammers as well as radar detectors are banned only in commercial vehicles.
The article is on the Phazer II. Not sure if I would go with that or not.
its what I have and has been really good to me.
the v-1 would be better if you were somewhere other than pittsburgh,( more crowded) but on these open roads, Where you pretty much know were the cops will be if they are out, the passport gives great range. It blows my friends Cobra away
owned the 8500 for 4 years now. 1 ticket since, and thats because i had it off.
Buy a cb
know where the local and state cops are even before you go onto that road :stick:

i have a $70 walmart radar detector and it saved me about 10 times. thats all you really need.
lasers own speeders.
once your detector goes off, he already has the ticket half written.
i use a V1 for radar when i travel, but you arent beating the laser.

Not exactly, cops would like you to think you cant beat laser, but if you have a good enough detector it will pick it up once the cop hits another car. Now if you are by yourself on the road, detectors dont really help unless the cop leaves his gun on.

u cant bet laser and the cops keep changin radar bandwiths as new detectors come out ive had a few detectors and end up selling them off because they just end up anoying me
Too much non-police radar equipment in use for detectors to be really useful any more. Stupid traffic radar sensors every couple miles, PenDot puts guns on all their stupid flashing signs, you get so many false alarms that you stop paying attention.
