Radar questions

Anyone use the
Passport 8500 X50

or
Passport 9500i

???

I would like to know how they perform…Thanks

8500 is good, I’ve heard a lot of people having issues with the 9500.

That being said, V1.

I take my v1 for granted. untill I drive my delsol which has a bel detector wired in.

You really miss the arrows. They make all the difference.

The K band range on the v1 is good, the Ka band range…ehh… leaves somthing to be desired.

If you’re going to spend the money. go V1

save $100 now, pay $1000 later

8500 is not bad at all, I would say very comparable to the V1, except the whole lacking arrows thing. I could NOT live without the arrows, so even if the 8500 was exactly the same as the V1, it still comes in second.

i have an 8500 love it…worth the money, if you have the extra money laying around i might opt for the v1

i have the 8500. The old school one before they came out with the x50.

I think it works friggin great. There isn’t even a rear detector, and it still grabs cops way behind me.

k and ka is all i use, I turned off laser and x band.

Buy a V1 !!!
Thread/

Reason behind this is that a guy wants to trade my old stereo stuff (jbl 1000:1 amp, 2 audio bahn flame q 12’sm and 2 old atomic thunders) for a radar, but he works at best buy and the best they can do is the passport no V1…so if anyone knows if i’d be better off with the 8500 x50 blue over the 9500i lemme know!

having owned both a V1 and the 8500, i agree with all the positives of the V1 that’ve been mentioned. it’s a great little toy

Tell him NO Trade. You want cash money so you can get a V1.

fyi…i got my x50 blue one for 220 with tax at best buy when i worked there so if you think your stuff is worth that do it…if not get cash

get a calibre k40 you pussies

I’m currently trying to get my hands on a demo model to do some reviews (I do some work in the radar detector industry) before I sack up and just buy one, but I’ve talked to many people who have used it, and all of who rave about it. The thing a lot of them loved was the auto sensitivity feature…the faster you are going, the more sensitive the device becomes.

Take this with a grain of salt though, there are definitely downsides to it. Some people say it’s pretty confusing to use (you press one button three times to mark one type of location, you press a hard to reach button on the top of the device to mark another type of location, etc).

If you do end up picking one up, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Edit: Er, talking about the 9500i. Totally forgot to mention that.

i like how quiet the 8500 x50 is, its very consistant and rarely falses, and it has really good KA range. But the arrows are a big plus on teh v1

V1 > *

i love how the guy asks about a product and 40 people chime in about a totally different product.
Personally, i don’t need the arrow. If i’m getting K or KA from any direction, i slow down. The X50 is great.

Sorry, in previous post I forgot to say I was talking about the 9500i.

how much are the v1’s?

$400.
