Rallys...

Not rally racing, i’m talking about rallys such as Playersrun, Gumball 3000 and such.

Just wondering what your opinions are on such events.

they make forsome good DVD’s thats all i know haha

Rallye*

Well besides watching for entertainment.

I’m thinking how insainly fun it would be to participate in one. Not of course the two I mentioned due to entry fees costing more then most of your cars lol

So enough beating around the bush, I ask your thoughts on such a event becouse I would like to form one that would be low cost and loads of fun.

ive looked into it. the cost of organizing it is insane

Well I probley didn’t look into it as much as you.

But thinking about it, I mean what would need to be organized, hotel stops for the night which could be the checkpoints and what other expensices would there be?
None of that sticker bullcrap, no need to attract attention.

would be alot of fun.

Low Cost? Loads of Fun?

I recommened the AKA Rally, went last year, had an absolute BLAST. This year is Vegas to DC (ending there for the 4th of July). I’ll might be going with the 951 again this year, last year I was in dmoffitt’s 350z.

If anyone puts down a deposit, drop my name for the referal

And FYI, stickering your car up to the extremes of what defines “gaudy” is half the fun.

^
that looks like a good time, and 3k for all inclusive isnt all that bad of a deal

One of these days I’ll have the time to go on one of these. There are several out there; some better than others, some more expensive than others.

The AKA hasn’t been around long but they’re building a reputation. For the money, you can’t go wrong. But don’t spend all your money on the reg fee… you might need extra cash

Last time I looked to get into the Player’s Run cost about $15,000.
If I had that kind of disposable income, I would surely sign up.

The Casino Run was only 8k if I remember correct… too bad it got canceled

A lot of it is glorified street racing. Even legitimate cross country ventures like “one lap” are shrouded in stories in violating traffic laws. IMO speed contest have no place on open public roads.

The only way I would go on one is if the authorities made some concessions, because the 3g entry is nothing, but jail time, car impounds, etc. are not on my list of “fun” things to do in this lifetime.

If the entry fee didn’t cost over 5k I would use the 5k for tickets and bail then it would be worth it lol

A good rally would be one without such a expensive entry

can you participate in any car?

And that’s why road trips w/ friends to car shows > *

You can on AKA. Last year (in terms of tickets) we were very good with a variety of scanners, detectors, laser diffusors, radio’s etc. We definitely were moving at a good pace and doing some unsavory things in the public eye, but I believe only two tickets were dealt out, one to Alicia in her 350z and the other was when dmoffitt got arrested in Georgia, which after we bailed him out was taken care of within a week and he had no mark of it on his record. (All a big mistake really). A few others got pulled over but only recieved warnings. There is talk of possibly some track time and a stop at the F1 GP in Indy this year, we’ll have to see what Chris announces but it looks like it has the potential to be a hell of a time (AGAIN).

Garbage, with the exception of One Lap of America (the original and still the best cannonball run)

I agree with you on that…

Back in the late 90’s me and Jaeger wanted to build a rally car… But we where poor High School kids and I’m still poor… But maybe Mike will build on when the Raddo is done… :uhh:
