Rappelling, Rope Swings

This new stuff seems to beat the brakes off rapelling, i’d be down to try this shit out.

Got my harness on the way! Bought some extra carabiners as well.

Paulo send me the vid of me if you get a chance

I’m going to post it, but I haven’t had the chance to cut it down yet. I was recording for a while before you jumped and need to trim it down. lol

christian trevor victor michael newman… i want in.

those videos look fucking killer.

this is crazy. how deep is the water at the bottom? how the shit do you get back up, or down? which one is it?

id assume you rappel down, although i haven’t been there to see for myself…
:frowning:

Water is only 3-4’ deep. They swing on the dynamic lines, then drop the static line (the black rope) to the bottom, switch over to that and rappell down. The climb up isn’t too bad off to the side.

what if the rope loops around your neck or arm?!?!

risk and reward, be careful, keep the line clear and always pay attention to where it is.

its pretty unlikely, but could happen…even tho you are free falling, the rope has some tension and doesnt just flop all over you lap on the way down.

Volcano rappelling:

All that is man…

What exactly were they attempting to do?

HAWT

That’s great he has on the hot suit. What do you wager is the melting point of the ropes? I wonder how far down he could get before it gives out.

Rappel in a volcano. That would be my first guess.

“Hey Swofford, which way do I mount this Claymore?”

Holy baby jesus. That fall looks awesome

Tall RR bridge in Letchworth?

On a side note that looks like a shitload of fun… … You guys deffinitely are nuts in a good way.

I don’t think rappelling off an active railroad bridge, especially one that gets as much traffic as the Portageville Bridge does is a good idea.

I don’t fuckin think so.

Umm dude all the times I have been there people have been crossing that thing like its a pedestrian bridge. Safe? Nahh. But come on now. Is jumping off a perfectly good bridge with a dinky little rope safe? Look at it this way. You see a train you have more motivation to jump, right?

The letchworth bridge would not be good for a swing. It’s high, but you’re limited by how close the supports are. We set this up today. I did a base jump style jump and a head first dive off… waiting to get pics.
