Things to jump off of into water in WNY

I’m really big on jumping off stuff into water…

I’m not responsible if you get hurt or arrested or deaded.

Here’s my list, including coordinates:

Smith Street railroad bridge: 42.862818,-78.85362

Jump from the blue dot (15-20 ft) if you’re a baby, climb the ladder and jump from the pink dot (45-50ft) if you’re a man.

Sunset Bay railroad bridge: 42.565134,-79.12417

This spot contains the highest jump here… It’s also the scariest climb… SUUUPER SKETCHY… I have yet to do the highest point, but I have seen dirtyE30 do it.

Green dot: 20ft
Climb the X to the pink dot: 40ft
Climb the bridge to the red dot: 65+ ft

Concrete central: 42.858824,-78.85405

This is the highest jump I’ve done:

You have to climb some sketchy angle steel bolted to the wall to get up onto the third floor. You can jump out there for a 45 foot drop, or climb up another flight of stairs to the fourth floor (pink arrow) and jump out (60+ ft). I already cut out the steel window frame to allow you access to the ledge to jump from. It’s fucking high and scary. I suppose you could go up another floor, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Akron Falls Park: 43.014527,-78.482746

I haven’t ever done this, but know people who have… my coordinates may not be perfect, but there is an upper and lower falls to jump from.

I think the rock area above this guy’s head is the upper area… looks to be about 45 feet or so?

It’s just an estimate. I try and stay on the conservative side… I’d like to get a tape measure or at least some marked string to more accurately measure the heights.

Whoa, cool MAP tags…

Anyway, I’ve heard of people jumping off the locks… Do you jump from the top?

no these are about right… based on my image analysis.

We’ve had the map tags for a while, there just isn’t much use of them.

The site I suggested isn’t the locks, that’s just a control mechanism or something like that. It’s FAR away from the locks and in the middle of nowhere. Jumping off the locks could probably be done… but you’ll also get in some shit because you’ll likely be seen.

I jumped off the concrete part of this thing in early High School. A bunch of us used to mountain bike out to the structure. I never had the balls to go higher, but I’ve seen it done.

Zoar Valley, I jumped there when I was a kid.

Yeah, zoar valley is pretty low. Only about 15 feet or so…

Josh have you ever seen someone jump from the top of the structure you posted?

Peace Bridge.

Let me know when you’re going to try it because I want to watch from a boat.

Someone told me they jumped from the peace bridge. I don’t know if I believe it.

Akron Falls is pretty sweet, been there twice, kicked out once. The lower falls about 20 feet, the upper falls are probably about 40-45 feet. Me and a friend of mine were about to jump from the top but a park security guy came and said if you jump you’re getting arrested and he called the sheriff. If you climb to the top and walk upstream about 5 minutes, there is also a pretty cool cave and I heard you can go pretty deep into it but it was like a sauna in there.

We used to jump off “the cliffs” at Spaulding. But they got Security there in the summer. Plus it is not really that high. Highest maybe being 20 feet?

grand island bridge (south) …

my old man and his brothers did it all the time back in the day …

ill try and find all the pictures and scan them … that takes some real balls

I think Nabb told me someone he knew jumped from it back in the 70’s.

Yeah years ago. not the very top, but the top of the green “wall” part.

Ah yes we did that too

It was a great spot. Never had security but the cops were called on us once.

I have a coworker who has jumped from the top of the second arch of the South Grand Island bridge. He’s nuts.

a kid i went to HS with Died jumping into the water somewhere… he hit a pylon or something buried in teh water… i dont remember where it was

LOL WUT? thats like 150+ feet up… that’s death heights…

The quarry at sherkston shores in canada… one part is fairly high, can also climb the tree at the highest point for more fun. Its pretty high, maybe 50+ feet?!

jump the cliffs at sherkston … thats where my dad and uncles got their practice

^^^the lock/dam that onyx posted was the first thing that came to my mind in this thread. its like 2 minutes from my house. and yes, people jump from the steel structure. the other side isnt a flat wall, it has the beams that you can climb over on. i havent seen anyone jump from the very top though. this thing closes during the winter to drain down the canal to only a couple feet deep for the locks in lockport.

fyi, off topic but from this thing to a little past ship n shore is pretty fun to ride during the winter on the snowmobiles, gets sketchy where the ice heaves at ship n shore but stay to the inside and your good. also when you get towards campbell blvd it gets to be open water quite a bit. luckily theres a couple places just before the bridge to hop off the canal and turn around if you go that far. i went that far once and after hitting a good football field length of open water said f that lol.
