RE: Wikileaks Thread

all men are created equal?

i am sure there is a very very large portion of the US that disagrees with that. the very fact that wikileaks exists is an indication. i do understand the logic behind it though.

i guess it comes down to whether the military is the means or the ends…

i’m pretty sure that is exactly what i did by bringing into question the entire situation… not just each little point inside it

whatever anyways… dead horse…

we all get to ignore it and go to work tomorrow.

This is a constant internal debate I have with myself. This is also a question that can open up many other cans of worms.

I’m also sure that a very very large portion of the US and beyond is just plain ignorant and has no clue of that complete facts. That’s why smart people are better than everyone else.

Not exactly; So Wikileak’s claim that innocent people were murdered in cold blood, their ignorance of the facts and insults to the military are justified simply because you don’t think the war was justified?

it’s a necessary counterpoint.

and it’s not ignorance, it’s a disagreement.

That’s like saying driving de-catted cars are driven by people ignorant to environmental concerns… when in fact it’s really that we just don’t give a shit… it’s not that we don’t know what the score is

wait… i missed that

So all deaths by guns are in cold blood cause people know bullets kill? lol

lol, 'cmon it doesn’t counter any points - it’s you saying it’s cool if they lie about it because the lie agrees with your opinion.

If it’s a disagreement, then which of these facts can they or you disagree with;

They make claims ignorant of all of the above.

Because that would be for the greater good? Get the facts straight. Attempt to understand the reason for classified military information before posting this non sense.

They were armed not only with assault rifles but RPGs that pose a serious threat to the helo. Lethal force was justified. End of story.

This. I believe in free speech. With that said, join the military. Walk a mile in a serviceman/woman’s shoes. Then you can be considered to bring a legitimate argument to the table, in my eyes.

With threads like this, I don’t see Network OT lasting long.

aside from all the bullshit, just watching the video… the soldiers thought those people were a threat so they took them out. better safe than sorry. better them than us. i would of done the same thing.

After reading this entire thread and contemplating my response, this is how I feel.

So where is the vote for “Iraq was/is a retarded war to get into, but I’m OK with the shooting?”

Give the guy a dishonorable discharge and be done with it.

Gasp, agreed.

Hang the bastard. It’s what Washington would have done.

Gasp, agreed.Gasp, agreed.[/QUOTE]

Except for the dishonorable discharge part. I think this country needs a good public hanging to set an example. Which would be better sentence than what he’ll get IMHO. He’ll be sent to Fort pound me in the ass Leavenworth where he’ll be everyones bitch until he eventually get’s out or is killed while in there.

There are far worse punishments than death in this world. My afore mentioned is one of them.

Legally right vs Morally right.

I’ll let Michael Sandel make the case… that being, there is no right answer, unless you don’t ask the question.

anyways gents… we all believe what we believe… truth is, none of us are legally AND morally right.

Moral and legal arguments aside, Wikileaks only reported the facts of the situation that validated their overall oppinion of the war. You can agree with their overall oppinion of the war, but that isn’t justification for misrepresenting the story.

So wikileaks = Fox News?

i still disagree with you… i think we’ll need at least another 6 pages of posts in this thread before we come to a conclusion… OKAY GO!

Are canadians the reason we can’t have nice things?

only if you mean healthcare…

read an interesting paper that stated the US’s over-expenditure on defense allowed other western nations to reduce defense spending and increase healthcare spending. Showed the changes in defence / healthcare spending over time for major nations post WWII.

that said, Canada is your largest energy supplier and for other raw materials as well… so we are the reason why you have nice things…

US also owns like 40% or something of all Canadian assets… was on the news, no source for it… so in essence we’re just the biggest and best US state with socialized medicine and no economic collapse.

Sure, if Fox did the same thing I’d agree.

Just because it fits the narative that you want it to doesn’t mean you can leave out facts that might suggest otherwise.

They don’t call us the worlds police for nothing

Time for a new thread on that though.
