What about jerry rigging it so that you can only press the brake down halfway?
i cut the threaded clevis rod down, so the freeplay is longer before the brake engages b/c i ride in full MX boots that don’t exactly flex all that much. it’s worth a try to adjust and see if you can get it apply lower.
