I bought a Prothane 90-97 Accord Rear Upper/Lower Control Arm Urethane Bushing Kit and am having some problems installing the last 2 bushings. The gold part of the bushing is smaller on one side than the other (notice the line toward the center of it). Here is a picture of what I started with …
The bushing can go in the control arm two ways … one way it barely goes in, and the other it slides most of the way through …
I went with my instinct and figured that the bushing has to start most of the way in, but I can’t get it in the rest of the way … anyone have any ideas? I might have to take the 15 min ride to use a friend press again if none of you know how to get it in. Any advice is apreciated. TIA
you could always lightly dremel one side of the control arm just enough that it slides the rest of the way through and it fits snugly john. thats what i would do.
The bushing is directional meaning it only fits one way, The smaller end of the bushing goes through the larger side of the arm.
Its probably needs to be pressed in so when doing that make sure you stick something in-between the two side of the arm so it doesn’t bend. You could also try freezing the bushing for a few, but if you have a press its not really needed.
