Has anyone on here ever replaced rear inner tie rods on a 240? I’ve never seen a set up like this;(looking at it from outside in) theres the tie rod, then a thinner rod that would turn with it, then 2 nuts, one that adjusts the length of the sleeve and one that locks it in place, then the rack. I tried everything, but couldn’t get the tie rod off, it would just keep spinning with the other rod it’s attached to. I see that the smaller rod has slots to fit a wrench over, but when you adjust the sleeve to give you as much room as possible, still couldn’t fit a wrench in there. I’m thinking of getting those really thin bike wrenches, but before I do that, wanna know if anyone knows if that would be the right way to do it. Sorry about the long explanation lol and thanks in advance.
that will work, or a monkey wrench
Or just hold one and spin the other out. Then put some red-locktite on the new one and change the other in a few days, it you do it this way hopefully you don’t ever have to change them again
I remember your were easy to remove…I eneded up weling your rack to a pipe just to get those damn rods off .
you got it all wrong. I just did some a couple days ago. All you have to do is loosen the inner nut that holds it in place. I think its like a 32mm or something but since its in a weird place you can just use plyers or a monkey wrench. Then go to your other inner rod and take the boot off. You need to have a wrench on both inners or your just spinnging them both. You will see when you get the boot off. Its soo simple. You will think you need to seperate the 2 thin nuts apart to get a wrench in there but you dont. Just looks like you do. Maby there is a tool to do that but aslong as the other inner your not changing is in theyre tight and the nut on that side is tight you will get it off no problem. Its a 20 min job. Hope that helps.

Thats because i changes them before.
Red-locktite FTW
Oh my god, I never looked to see if the other side was spinning. That was such a huge waste of time, oh well glad to hear its gonna be easy when I pull it back in again guess the smaller rod inside that was spinning with it is used to hold on to once you got one side off working on the next. Thanks guys!
no problem. Also make sure you get the right part. The rear inners have course threads and the fronts are fine. I thaught I could hybred some in but no
yeah I was thinking of that too since the rears are more than 2x the cost of front ones lol But I got the right parts
