Reasons why GM and American cars kick ass

Uh Oh lol

Indeed

Thank you to TORQDSS for this thread, I was in a horrible mood earlier, and now ripping on GM for a while has surprisingly brightened my day LOL. OHH I’ve just spotted the new E90 M3 in last months Road and track, Im going to go masturbate to it now HaHa

so true!!!

I wouldn’t worry, I only make power for the first 5 miles… Then the opti usually explodes.

:roflpicard: too much info…

Hmmm yes but Im sure in your copy, the pages in which the CTS-V is displayed wont be able to be pulled apart again. HaHa

LOL!!!

I can’t believe my eyes when I saw all of that *gosh…plastic in that Beemer interior! I thought plastic was exclusive to GM interiors?

Hi, welcome to a discussion where some people involved work in the industry (not at a parts counter or in a shop)

Residual value is probably one of the most important factors in automotive pricing. Lease payments are based on it and residuals have cost serious coin to the Big 3 when they did it wrong… F150’s?

You and i may not think it’s that important, but only because it’s not really up to us.

I see your point.

But, what I was trying to say is that do you really think Mr and Mrs. so and so go to a lot to purchase a car and go, “hrmm…I wonder what sort of value this thing will have in 5 or 6 years when I decide to trade it in on another one?” It’s probably the last thing on their mind.

i agree that it isnt necesarily top of mind for Mr. Generic consumer, but the predicted residual value impacts the monthly payments which do have an impact on the decision. It also has an impact on why certain american OE’s are not leasing vehicles anymore.

residual can be a make or break decision criteria for many though…

Any savvy car buyer does not buy a car they know they’ll never be top side on.

I have colleauges that traded in their wife’s newish Cobalt (2-3 years old) for a 5-6 year old Mazda Trubite becuase the Tribute is worth $6k now, as is the Cobalt… but the Tribute bottom’s out at $5k with little or no depreication afterwards so long as it is in decent shape… the cobalt will go right down to $500 just like a sunfire / cavalier.

I love sitting in my Cadi Eldorado everyday. Cant beat having modest power and full luxury for under 10k :thankyou:

bing, everytime I see your name all I can think of is you standing at Watkins Glen screaming “BLOWJOBS!”

You’re arguments lose 99% of their value when you state things as bolded above.

Being a valet monkey does not equate to driving a vehicle in any capacity to be able to offer a review of them in any area beyond low speed steering response.

However, if you tell me that you’re doglegging these valeted vehicles, and thoroughly putting miles on the chassis, drivetrain & interiors… then ANY of your tripe may be worth reading.

OH BTW - Don’t let Onyx find out that you’re flogging these cars in an attempt to posit a comprehensive opinion of them.

Ha Ha yes laugh all you want, but when you’ve finished your chuckle, take the time to think about the fact the we do get in these cars basically back to back, and no I dont put 1000 miles on the car so no I guess I dont get the full aspect of each car, but remember that the driving we do in these cars gives a pretty good interpretation of how they hold up in real world situations, its plenty enough for me to maker my decision, on quality and annoyances of each. Oh and I dont flog any cars, If i valeted my car I wouldn’t want it beaten, therefore I dont abuse anyone else’s shit, and josh knows this, K thanks

yous way too lates

So, you get into a car. Put it in drive. Travel roughly 10mph through a parking lot. Then back it into a parking spot.

Wow.

That’s all the driving anyone would need to firmly establish an opinion on road-worthyness.

Why read Car and Driver when we could just ask you?

So tell me something…whats easier to do a 3-point turn in? A BMW 3-series, or a Cadillac CTS? How about a parallel park?

Ya know I just cant explain this any further, so Im just going to go with…FUCK YOU, GM product is shit and I dont give a flying fuck what anyone says people that waste money on this shit should be ashamed

Ill base my point of view on my previous experiance. Ive owned many cars from the 80’s to the 90’s and newer both import and domestic.

The domestics for the longest time until late were behind in technology and reliability. The imports however have always been reliable and great on gas. it hasnt been until late that the domestics (mainly GM) have stepped up there game. I love alot of the new vehicles and concepts coming from them however i cant get outta my head all the countless bullshit problems ive had with my families cavaliers, wifes sunfire, mom’s corsica. All these vehicles were very nice when purchased new and quickly fell to shit. The technology on these cars were very primitave and basic and lacked any thing of its competitors.

Its because of all these horrible GM cars that they have put out in that past that makes it VERY difficult for me to want to hop into a new one. Maybe in 5-6yrs when i see how there current new model mid sized or compacts hold up. But till then ill keep driving my bmw with over 120,000 miles and over 600hp with stock internals. And when im not driving that ill hop in my wifes scion which for around 17g brand new was one hell of a deal and will hold its value.

I dont drive bmw because it gets me tail. I drive it because i know that it will last well over 200k miles and i will still be able to sell it when im done abusing it.
