2002 Denali… 182,000 miles… still running very strong and in fantastic shape. just normal maintenance. 16 average mpg, and that’s with 25min of stop and go traffic most mornings, and a 345hp 6L LS1
my dads 2007 Denali is VERY nice imo… rides amazing, very comfortable, good looks, great interior, 17+mpg with a 405hp 6.2L LS3
mom has a 2008 Cadillac SRX base model, which while isnt a car i would get, rides very nice, great interior and options, fit and finish, etc etc…
to each their own, you like what you like, but the anti-gm bandwagon is pretty ridiculous.
and if you want to compare cars, while not in the same class, my sister’s 2005 Rav4 has very ugly interior imo, BAD gearing, steers weird, blind spots like woah, big lack of get up and go. but on the other hand, its economical, and gets her through the snow. :gotme:
Ive been using pauls yukon alot lately and i like it alot. Ive even been lookig at denali’s because they are so cheap used. My personal experiences have nothing to do with bandwagons. I work on and have owned alotta of different cars, so my experiences are frst hand and not here say.
1998 Grand Prix GT Daily Driver. Bought in 1999 with 11,000 miles on it. Financed it for 4 years (yeah I DIDN’T give a shit about resale value), paid it off in late '03. STILL DRIVING IT AS A BEATER, now it has 140,000+ on it.
Resale value?
Who gives a shit. I got way more than my moneys worth out of it. 4 years of no car payments>worrying about resale value.
just because its 100$ doesnt mean that its not safe. ive found rust free (non ny) volvos with blown motors/trannies etc for around that. little searching around for a motor or whatnot and you have a decent, super safe car for less than 500$. american stuff is even cheaper.
im not saying cart your wife in a NY salt rat. im saying cruise the nursing homes for low mileage cheap cars that have been garage kept. thats how i got my reliant. 43k, mint interior, one dent from old lady driving for 500$. she was going into the nursing home.
ive only been stranded twice. blew up clutch (my bad) and timing belt failure cause i neglected to change it when i was supposed to. hour later after a buddy brought me some tools and a belt and i was back on the road. it could happen to anyone.
I know you arent an idiot. no one runs tens and is a real moron. cars will always be a losing proposition though due to depreciation regardless of the resale value.
I’ve had 2 Fords, 4 GM’s, and 3 Lexus’. There are pro’s and cons to all of them. No one will ever win at a topic like this. Can’t we all just drive LS1 powered Hondas and get along?
