Does anyone know where to buy smashed up vehicles that i can rebuild. I have bought them before from how bills. I am having a hard time finding a ford escape or mazda tribute that i can rebuild my self because it is a little cheapier at least for me. Also might want a ford explorer too.
go to william street, marks auto parts and some others nearby have tons of wrecked cars
Junkyards can be unbelieveable when you try to buy wrecked vehicles. Back when i crashed my tercel I wanted to buy a wrecked one at jandj. The guy wanted 500 dollars for the car without a motor. I laughed at him. then pretty much stole everything i needed for 25 bucks lol.
FYI once a car is in a junkyard and put through the system, you can’t buy the vehicle whole. it has to be purchased in the sum of its parts. even if you like cut the car in half to buy it out of a junkyard to rebuild (i know someone doing this with a fox body mustang), you are gonna have one hell of a time getting a title for it.
Not correct. When the junk yard receives it they are supposed to figure out whether they are going to part it/crush(dismantler Book), or resell it(dealer book)(every Junk yard is also a dealer). If they are going to crush/part it they are supposed to put the car on whats called a 907M form and send the title to Albany(so that it cant ever be registered again). Let me tell you no one does that on a regular bassis. I dont think i’ve ever seen one sent in within 6 mths to a year. and even then its possible to get the title back from albany. If it goes in the dealer book it can be resold with an MV50. If it is a salvage car when you buy it it will come with a 907A form (salvage form) instead of a title. Once you fix the car you have to take it for a salvage exam at dingens st(you have to apply for this exam). DMV guys will look over your vehicle and check vin numbers etc… and your receipts to make sure it does not have any stolen parts on it. After the exam(if it passes) its about 30 days till you receive a title(usually branded with salvage written on it).
And I won’t send a car to a junkyard with a title. Most will take on w/o especially when scrap is up. That way I have the title for somethign else.
that crazy old man at j and j accuzed myself and onyxz32 of stealing the interior out of a smashed up 300zx down there. hes out of his mind! im pretty sure kcuv dealt with his crazy ass when he bought an interior piece, told him to never come back after he haggled his way out of the old mans rediculous prices.
my friend buys cars from salvagedirect.com… they are down in pensylvania and you can usually get pretty good deals. He buys the cars, fixes them and re sells. He got a 2003 Blazer for $2800 fixed it for about $1000 in parts and got $6000 for it. A 2001 V6 mustang for a bit over $2000 and sold it for $5500… he usually does 2 or 3 per year, basically for money for his toys
i crashed my tercel he wanted 250 for the front head lights grill bumper and support. i said ill give u 25 for the support. he said deal and i payed right there. then walked out with all the other parts. i payed 500 dollars for that car when i was 16 i wasnt going to put half the price of the car into it. it did last me 300,000 miles on 2 motors though.
cool thanks for the help.
tell me how much your looking to spend and i can just watch out for them at the auction, i have been looking at 2002 Escapes and its not rare to see them going for under 4k
I was looking at these two escapes i really dont have how much i want to spend yet it just depends on wht it looks like and how much damage is done to it. But i do not want a rollover at all because they are just too much work even when you do rebuild them there are still problems.
I was looking at these two cause they were the only two on this site.

But if you wouldnt mind takin me to the auction with you one time to check out some vehicles i will go.
Try to find a theft recovery.
yeah that wht i want but even something i have to rebuild myself i wouldnt care about. because my uncle is a retired body shop guy so he has helped me with some of my vehicles that i have rebuilt and sold in the past.
