Redbull Air Races

Seems like the Detroit/Windsor is making this a yearly thing. Just walked out to the river and watched for a bit. The actual races start tomorrow. Anyone making the trip?

Update: You missed someone hitting the water

Better angle[COLOR=“Silver”]

So when you update a title why doesn’t it update in the thread list?

That is a classic accelerated stall. You can stall a plane at any speed and direction. Angle of Attack on the wing determines the stall point. He was looking into the turn, instead of ahead and flying the plane, and he over pulled to make a pylon. You can see the smoke and wing burble as the upper air starts to break off of the wing. His reactions were perfect. He reduced angle of attack and leveled the wings, just in time.

What are the chances that a pilot would survive a crash under these conditions?

Pretty good considering a guy crashed in almost the exact same way a couple years ago.

While looking for ^ that I also found this v. Poor birdy. I guess it’s a better way to go than being covered in oil.

awesome near-crash… i would have screamed and cheered my ass off seeing that… dude’s got bit elephant balls
