Refrigerant recovery machine

Before buying one new, figured I’d see if anyone had a refrigerant recovery machine. Looking to get a retail repair license added, this along w/note from manufacturer is required. Thanks.

You have your EPA?

Get your EPA before touching refrigerant “commercially”.

?

Doesn’t appear NYS DMV requires any EPA certification to obtain a repair license?

epatest.com $25, cake.

My business partner is certified, doesn’t seem that’s necessary to apply for a retail dealer but either way we should be covered

It is not necessary

To charge the units I’m pretty sure you need your EPA. I have my universal so I can work on all equipment, but if people fail part of the EPA exam, you can end up only being certified to work on certain equipment.

swiderski got his with out a ac machine.
although im also looking for an ac machine. so ill be no help in this department.

I’m sorry for some reason I wasnt thinking automotive repair shop, I was thinking like appliances lol yeah you should be ok, I’d say automotive refrigerant recovery machine, because I was thinking about the stuff I use.

Stuff I work on is gigantic compared to auto stuff. Pretty sure you need a cert to work on automotive AC commercially. Private party is still ok though. But if your guy has a cert you should be all set. If you are doing recovery do your self a favor and invest in a good machine. United refrigeration has some good equipment. Also get yourself a vacuum machine too. Though you may be able to get away with just using the recovery machine as a vac in a circuit as small as a car’s.

I had no idea this was a requirement. I managed a shop for a couple years I know that we did not have one on site. That said I have nothing to offer.
