So I just a letter from the DMV for the renewal of my registration. There are three options and one of them is just renewal and keeping your “old” plates. so that means no ugly ass yellow plates. It’s also $54 bucks cheaper to keep the old plates.

I got mine for the car a few weeks ago
$58.50 to keep the white plate
$83.50 to get a yellow plate
$103.50 to get a yellow plate with the same numbers as the white plate.
For my quad its:
$12.50 same plate
$25 yellow
$45 yellow with same numbers
Why the fuck would I give the state more money than I need to by getting new plates?
Yup you can keep your white plate, its only original reg transactions that require you to go yellow. Even if you are buying a new car as long as you are transferring plates from another vehicle that car can get empire plates as well

I got lucky as hell when i bought my new truck earlier this month. The dealer i went to had a stack of the commercial white plates left and they put them on my truck. I originally thought “yes i have two years with the nice plates”, i was under the impression anyone that renews theyre reg would be moving to the ugly ass NYSFAIL plates. Im pumped that i slid under the radar and will be able to keep my white plates even when renewal time comes.
