That customer was worth over $500,000 a year in sales to my company at one point.
I just got a letter from a customer that is worth over $300,000 in sales a year to my company.
I will type the first paragraph of a short two paragraph letter…
Dear Valued Supplier,:cjerk: (I added the jerk off part)
It was announced April 12, 2006, that the solenoid manufacturing operations at the Phelps, NY facility will be consolidated with operations at an aerospace facility in Tijuana, Mexico. As a result the Phelps site will close in the first quarter of 2007.
I COULDN’T MAKE THIS SHIT UP, “AEROSPACE FACILITY IN TIJUANA, MEXICO”
Was it a Bruce Willis character that said, “this spaceship was built by the lowest bidder.”?
Now he can say, “This spaceship was built by the lowest bidder in Mexico.”
Do you think this letter may be bad news for my company and it’s employees?
Again, I am not looking for personal sympathy.
I just want to make EVERYONE aware of what is going on with manufacturing jobs in this country.
And people thought H. Ross Perot was crazy when he said there is a sucking sound and it is jobs going to Mexico.
If they make the products we are making in Mexico they can make anything there.
I will update this thread as I learn more about the fate of this customer.
Shitty news indeed. my dad lost his job with trico a few years ago to a mexican plant. He was an electrician, serviced their equipment. DONT BUY TRICO!!!
Serious question, what do you think the answer to the exporting of jobs problem is? You obviously have first hand experience with the problem, so I’m curious.
There is no easy answer to the problem.
I have discussed this in my other thread, the real problem is cultural.
I don’t blame anyone in the US for the way they live because we are all guilty.
We expect to make more money than anyone else but at the same time expect people from other countries to make our stuff for 50 cents an hour.
I could go on and on but if you check out the other thread some of it is there.
