Removing upper intake plenum - SR20DET

So I removed all the 12mm (and a few 10mm) bolts that I could possibly
see holding the upper plenum.

But as I tug on the plenum, the bottom part comes loose a few mm so
nothing is holding on the bottom side. But the top side doesn’t even move
a whole lot.

It seems like something is holding it there but I can’t tell what.

Any ideas? Does any of the IACV pieces holding the upper plenum? I
thought the IACV only goes on the bottom plenum.

Just like how you removed all the bolts from the bellhousing when you pulled your tranny on the KA ??

Your sarcasm is unappreciated. :squintnono:

but its so funny because its directed towards you

its like a taste of your own medicine

did you take all the brackets off the intake mani?

i believe some are attached to the upper iirc (i have an S14 so its totally different - trying to remembe rthe S13 days)

The plenum is the bottom part. You’re trying to remove the runners?

You’re going to have to undo all the brackets that hold the plenum (bottom part) in order to remove the runners since the runners have bolts running through them vertically from the plenum and horizontally from the cylinder head. I THINK there are 3 brackets bolted from the block to the plenum.

I removed the 2 bolts per port on the top (which holds the runners to the
head), adn then 2 bolts per port on the bottom (which holds the runner to
the lower plenum). A few of them were nuts instead of bolts.

And then a few bolts here and there that I could see in that area.

So yes, the runners are free from the lower plenum in that I can already
separate them, but I can’t seem to break them loose from the head.
