I am looking to renting an air compressor for a mod day at the end of the month. I have no idea who rents them, or if you can rent them period. I don’t need anything huge. Just enough to take apart a couple suspensions. Already have the tools, just need the compressor.
Anyone got any recommendations? Any place near Fox Chapel would be optimal. Thanks.
I don’t know of any place that rents one the size you would desire. united rentals and that type have ones that are big diesel ones that are towed behind a truck, that that would cost more for one day than buying a new consumer model.
My advice, buy one off craigslist, if you don’t want to keep is just re list it after you are done.
I don’t really want to buy one as 1) I have no place to put it, 2) I can’t afford to buy one and then flip it later, and 3) there will be other people chipping in, so I wouldn’t be the one footing the bill. But I will certainly look into it as an option. Depends on prices.
unless you go with the tow behind a place like taylor rental isnt going to have the size you need, nor is it going to have the power to get the rusted bolts off. i have a (i think) 6 hp 30 gallon compressor and even with a really nice air gun at 120psi i had to use a breaker bar to get most of the bolts broke loose then i was able to hit it with the air gun. i have the price sheet for taylor rental down in my car and if i remember ill get it up here tomorrow.
I think I’ve got that exact craftsman that jeff posted. thing works damn good! no problem with pressure taking lugs or control arm bolts off. the craftsman impact that came with it sucks ass tho. IR ftw
x3 on the craftsman and x2 on the craftsman gun being garbage.
Did you try lowes / home depot? I think you can rent a nailer and compressor for doing hardwood floors from them. Maybe they would just rent the compressor, or just get the whole thing and obviously, not use the nailer.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I appreciate it.
A member PMed me offering his compressor for the weekend for free, so I’d be retarded to not accept it. Maybe down the line I’ll reopen this thread when I am ready to buy one.
