Report: GM may buy BMW engines

It would help if you picked a car that wasn’t canceled 3 years ago.

So you are saying GM is 3.7% behind Toyota in looks?

Also, I think that the Malibu, CTS, new trucks, new Yukon/Escalade, outlook/enclave are not bad looking vehicles. Maybe not all my taste, but not bad looking.

Chevy Avalanche, Chevy SSR, Chevy HHR… I could go on.

No, those would be sales, he was just throwing it in there as frosting on the cake. Toyotas are ugly too, ::cough:: toyota matrix, which is also known as pontiac vibe. As a matter of fact GM and Toyota collaborated to produce both cars out of the same factory. GM was aiming at learning how Toyota markets so well and Toyota was hoping to pick up on style :bloated: not sure what was going on there when they were thinking of that but it was doomed from the beginning and obviously never worked.

Stopped in 2006

I would agree with all of your picks but some people buy these vehicles for reasons other than looks like functionality.

I don’t like the looks of the Honda Element and Ridgeline but I understand that it is reliable, efficient and functional and that’s why it sells.

So kicking the ugly kid while he is down? Got it

Just saying… I think it’s getting better, but the fact that production was stopped on a lot of these “ugly” vehicles doesn’t justify anything. They produced ugly vehicles and sales were down. Hopefully, things will change. I’m not against American cars, just crap cars.

Yes

Why dont you just pick one individual part of GM then?? Both of your arguments are a joke. You take cars that are market for a completely different price range and purpose and try and compare them. Lets use something comparable instead of saying “that entry level sedan is so much gayer then the luxury sedan” No shit :bloated:

EDIT: I can see you both sitting two rooms away having this discussion while Dave is threatening to kill you both right now.

Are you hung over or something? Go back and read the thread. I wasn’t the one that began comparing different markets. I pointed out the above argument half-a-page ago.

Yes i’m hung over, but I wasn’t talking to you. I think I quoted Matt because I feel like bashing him because he’s to cool to hang out with me all of the sudden.

Haha Ooooo boy this is getting really off topic :massmoon:

Well Im gonna leave this topic alone I think. I can understand both sides of the argument, and as Avatar said, its not that I hate all domestics, I like many others just have personal tastes on cars. Theres alot of nice American cars (however we define “american” these days) I just think that European styling trumps all in that respect and as far as sales are concerned, Toyota is winning with GM following I believe, but once again you have to consider the market segment they are in.

Nappy Ill be in my garage installing my exhaust today :rolljerk:

That smiley says it all for me lol. :zong: Go rub another one out on your car and call it a day already.

:gay3: I still <3 you

I am sorry, but Bangle cars still suck. They are ugly, new X6 is awful, the 6er looks like a sloth, the 5er is growing on me but looks plastic, if you really do say BMW designs awesome looking cars, wow, the best of later years is still the E39. New ones are meh at best, it is well know you are not buying a BMW because of the way it looks.

the new bmw’s are hideous.

i like the sloth comparison to the 6 series. thats funny. the M6 looks terrible.

Weird I don’t see a huge difference. The headlights are a direct swap almost I believe.

After that I think they all look cheap and crappy.

You drive a bangle car… and the e39 is also a bangle car.

The “Bangle” argument has been rehashed so many times… yet it’s always wrong. If you want to goto the real heart of the issue you should be complaining about Adrian van Hooydonk. He is the lead designer, Bangle has more of a desk job now.

:bloated::bloated::bloated::bloated:?

Can anyone show me where in this thread anyone has said that BMW makes the sexiest looking car in the world? It was only said that perhaps GM sales have been suffering because the market is rejecting their recent styling. They ugly…

If I wanted to make an example of a great looking car I wouldn’t pick a BMW. I love 'em, but please…

I think Corvette interiors look cheap and crappy.

I can not spell his name, and wasn’t about to try, figuring someone else would correct me about it. The argument is brought up enough that I know someone else knew more about it than I did.

But arguing that GM makes ugly cars has anything to do with this. Ironically the two main people that are saying GM’s are ugly drive BMWs. It is ironic to think that they market is rejecting their styling, considering they are still selling more than anyone globally.

Irony: I don’t think it means what you think it means…

GM is selling more than Toyota, globally? Really?

I know for a fact Toyota outpaced GM in 2007.

Weird… it’s not really much different then the 97 M3 interior IMO

Are you counting all brands under both companies? If so, link to support your facts?
