Most know this car better as Justin’s old turbo GSR. I picked up this clean shell from Justin about a year ago as a bare shell with no interior, suspension, or front end. The front end was tweaked pretty good. Well after 3 parts cars and a few bucks. Its become my latest project…
The plan was to replace from the firewall up. Just before the shock towers was tweaked, so I didnt want to risk having the towerrs off. So I picked up another GSR for parts. Drilled out all the spot weld’s in both cars. Burning out all the seam sealer with a torch is the easiest way to get it out.
Set the front end on the car. I used a couple bolts to draw the front end to the car before measuering and welding it in place.
I put all the body panels on the car before completely welding the front clip on.
put the front cross member back in to make sure the bolt holes lined up.
Completely began to weld the clip on. Also mounted the lights and double checked the body lines every time i welded a spot. This is how it sits as of today.
The LS motor I am using. This is not staying this way. Plans are LS/Vtec with some goodies attached.
Plans for today: finish up the welding, seam seal, quick paint job over the sealer, replace the shit suspension to the whole GSR suspenion I have. Pull the LS motor apart and get the B16 head on it.
I’m on vacation all week. So I would like to get it back together within the week. I am moving along pretty good on it. All that pretty much happened within 2 days lol. I do work when I get into it.
I will but they maybe going on my civic. Yea the passanger one is bent a little.I am still going to use everything off it though and just swap it to a different arm. You dont need the whole trailing arm to swap in rear disk. I actually already had a full GSR interior in the LS, so no loss there lol.
Finished up welding the clip on, seam sealed it, painted some of the bay black, undercoated the front end, mounted the front suspension, and torn the engine down to the lower end today. I need to find some ARP washers for my headstuds, I am missing 7 of them. Otherwise the heads ready to go on.
It was hit in the passanger rear. Completely shifted the trunk and suspension on that side. A lot easier the replace the front end on the black one and swap the blue car parts to the black one.
Nice work dude. Told justink to do this the day he crashed it. I need to chat with you one of these days. You chill with the Cdtc crew right? I don’t think we’ve met.
