Reverse Stance

Ok, i was bored reading some magazines talking about wide body on FWD. Interesting stuff, then something caught my eye, Reverse Stance.

Its basically, wider tires on the front than the rear. Now this made me think, how would you make that work? Wouldnt the turning be crappier than usual?

Thoughts anyone?

they use it alot for drag racing…better traction of course

So no good for a track machine or autox i take it?

Well, in a FWD car you shouldn’t usually be operating the car at full lock anyway, so it may not matter. If you introduce more rubber up front, you’re naturally going to get some oversteer as you’ll have less traction in the rear, so not sure if that’s a concern to you or not.

I would say give it a shot! If you can make it work without serious fender rubbing, go for it, because no one cares what your car looks like on the track, they only care what your time is.

First production car ever to have wider tires up front is the Pontiac GXP V8. First of all a V8 in a FWD car is retarded. Second that car is a huge hunk of shit… uhh… third… umm I lost my train of though.

I wouldn’t put wider tires up front though. Bigger rear sway bar will give the handling effect you’re looking for.

I do this at the track only. Slicks up front, and 5" wide skinnies in the back. Gets crazy shifty sometimes past 100 mph.
