I know pictures are worth a thousand words, but they will follow…in the meantime, here are a thousand words…
Just kidding, but here’s the deal - these guys were great. Met them on the way to LOG with several other Lotus guys at a Syracuse-ish area fuel stop. The owner/representative happened to be there and he came up to all of us and handed out his business card, in case any of us needed any wheel work. I did not for our Lotus cars, but I told him I have another car that needed some wheel work. I have had a little bend (ended up being 2 bends) in my front left MR2 wheel from probably 8 years ago when I caught a curb…they told me they have offices in Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo and to give a ring to set something up. I told him I would do so soon…
So last week I called, and they forwarded me to the Buffalo office. I rang up Aaron who works the Buffalo group, and we set up an appt. They actually have a mobile van and were able to come to my work, which was very helpful. The guys that came were Aaron, whom I had spoken to on the phone, and one of his associates named June. Both guys were incredibly nice, and they did the work needed to my wheel in about an hour’s time. But that was not it…
In addition to straightening my wheel, they also thoroughly cleaned it (see sidebar below), sanded out the perimeter of the wheel, and then re-painted the area. The wheel literally looked brand new. I could not believe it. I told them I was so impressed by the work, that I would love to have them “clean up” my other wheels in similar fashion. They gladly obliged, and followed me from my work to my garage where the other 3 wheels were. They performed the same cleaning / refreshing on those wheels, and the end result is that I now have a set of wheels that looks like new again. Amazing…
Again, photos will follow, but take my word in the meantime…if you need quick, reasonably priced wheel work done by a couple of really nice guys, Rim Doctor is the place to call…

Sidebar This was no easy feat for me, I have been struggling to get these clean for years. My wheels had a good bit of over-spray and dirt on them from when I restored my MR2 a few years ago. The shop that painted my car, while doing an amazing job on taking my car down to the bare metal and completing a near concours level paint job, was a little lax on covering up my wheels and keeping them protected in the process. Granted, they did not look perfect at the time, having some perimeter damage (including the bend in the LF), and just looking overall sorry at the time. Also, the car was in his shop for over a year, so, things happen. I knew that I would probably have to refinish them at some point anyways, so I was not too concerned at the time. Little did I know that I would meet the Rim Doctor guys, and they would pull off what they did for me for literally a fraction of the cost…
