^^this is what it looks like(from in car POV) to compete in a WRC “street-race”

another ridiculous Ford
Carlos Sainz 1997 WRC in-cars

Wow, it must take focus and endurance, and I know I couldn’t be a co-driver, id get sick

more ridiculous in-car…
…some pretty hairy stuff here(1:38, etc)

Looks unbelievably fun.

The best driver skill auto racing ever imho. Takes balls to do what they do.

Here’s a whole stage from Petter Solberg and Phil Mills in Finland…one of the fastest rallies on the circuit…at least you can understand the co-driver in this one…

Wow, that cage squish at 1:38 is pretty intense

lol, at 1:59 I thought it was a pontiac, I had to watch it a few times. I was like WTF? and the drift right after that segment was siqqq

even though I could understand him I still have no clue what he was saying. I heard stay close to the grass a lot, but thats really it

petter is a madman.

Are you at all familiar with how co-driver notes (typically) work? It helps to have a basic understanding first.

Basically, one style of note calling is to assign each turn a number (usually 1-6), and that’s generally loosely based on the gear you can take that turn in flat out. So a right 6 would be a flat out corner in 6th gear. The 100’s and 150’s and such you hear are the straights in meters. So a left 3 200 into right 2 would be a pretty steep turn, 200 meter straight, then a really sharp right. You can modify a turn with a + or -, where a left 4+ would be a fast 4, and a left 4- a slow one.

Solberg and Mills do some weird calls that I’ve never heard elsewhere (oblong and such…) so I’m not sure what those mean anyway. Watch it a few times and you’ll really get a feel for it and start to see how the calls affect how Solberg sets up the car for the corner coming up ahead that he can’t see yet. Cool stuff!!

Sorry if you knew all this already…just sounded from your post like you were possibly a rally n00b.
