The old W2 heads were used by Mopar for allsorts of racing and they developed a nice set of fenderwell style headers to suit the A body cars, when they did the new W7 heads they figured it was easier to make little flanges, than to make complete new headers.
This motor is something of a mutt and probably one of the first Mopar ‘R’ racing blocks they made, it’s got a 40 mm diameter cam bearing in the back and 4x 50 mm’s going up the block, this was becasue the distributor and oil pump are still in the stock locations and they couldn’t get a bigger bearing in there. You’ll never know the hassle we had getting a cam ground for this thing! Actually I had the old NASCAR roller cam re-profiled into something suitable for the blower, still doesn’t have ideal lobe separation, but with those heads and that big blower it’ll do something, that’s for sure!
