Right Hand Drive '69 Barracuda

Well, I have tons of space and can keep a running log of things in that gallery, so no problems.

What are the adapter flanges and why did the engines have them. Oddā€¦

The old W2 heads were used by Mopar for allsorts of racing and they developed a nice set of fenderwell style headers to suit the A body cars, when they did the new W7 heads they figured it was easier to make little flanges, than to make complete new headers.
This motor is something of a mutt and probably one of the first Mopar ā€˜Rā€™ racing blocks they made, itā€™s got a 40 mm diameter cam bearing in the back and 4x 50 mmā€™s going up the block, this was becasue the distributor and oil pump are still in the stock locations and they couldnā€™t get a bigger bearing in there. Youā€™ll never know the hassle we had getting a cam ground for this thing! Actually I had the old NASCAR roller cam re-profiled into something suitable for the blower, still doesnā€™t have ideal lobe separation, but with those heads and that big blower itā€™ll do something, thatā€™s for sure!

I just nipped out and test fitted that intake pipe oh my lordā€¦ Brent has the pictures, does anyone know if itā€™s posssible to buy 5" OD aluminum elbows, I need a 90 degree one, then the final part is a 5" to 6" adapter so I can fit the K+N airfilter on the end and while I think about it I;m going to need some rubber couplings to hold all of this lot together, Iā€™m not sure the 1" blue painterā€™s tape will work for long!

I just found the 5" elbow and a 5"-6" reducer Iā€™m much impressed that there is a company out there who make this stuff!!!

Where is it coming from? I remember some friends looking for odd adapters and elbows without much luck.

the company is down in KY -called Processing Equipement Incā€™, they do ally up to 10" allsorts of bends and pipes, the stuff Iā€™m using is .065" wall Vacuum tube. They sell this trick heat shrink couplings that you just put over the joint and heat it up with a hair dryer- itā€™s on the intake side so no pressure to deal with.
Next is the K+N RC3070 air filter and weā€™re ready to rumble!

rats itā€™s such a lovely day I should wheel the old yellow heap outside and give her a wash and get rid of the grim of 3 1/2 years. Slight problem is that the only thing holding the axles together at the moment is a short piece of schedule 40 plastic pipe and Iā€™m not sure itā€™ll roll too well !!
The new NASCAR motor is now at the engine builderā€™s place in PA, I had a nice 500 mile roundtrip yesterday, great fun and just what I needed to get my car building juices flowing again!
I now have the gaskets I need to put the motor together in itā€™s final form, hopefully I can get it all bolted up to the blower plate and test fit everything inside the engine bay this weekend- more to follow:D

Iā€™m thinking youā€™re right
So, which will be prowling the streets first, the built Skyline or the turbo Barracuda?

(God I wish I had those optionsā€¦)

thereā€™s still a way to on both of them, but like all great art it takes a while and besides which I have many other commitments these daysā€¦
Still if I win the lottery tonight I can have them all built eh:D

Nothingā€™s ever easy on this car of mine, I should have learned that by now! Predictably the lovely custom fit race headers are designed by Mopar Performance for a domestic ,left hand drive A body WITHOUT a 5" OD bit of ally pipe where the driverā€™s side inner fender would normally be, and WITHOUT a steering shaft on the passenger side. Ho hee hum more cutting and shutting to doā€¦:roll2:

:frowning: What gets cut now? Going to need to redo the headers?

Yep, fortunately I have a complete weld up kit left over from another project and so I have lots of bends to play with, Iā€™m starting to think however that itā€™s time for some professional help, or else itā€™ll be next year before this car hits the street??

I keep looking at the spare 318 smallblock motor I have sitting on the floor of the barn and thinking how easy it would have been to simply put that in there and go out and have some fun.
Still the 5" 90 degree elbow just showed up so I can get and idea where the filter is going to sit inside this monstrosityā€¦

Well at least the headers fit on the driverā€™s sideā€¦

One HELL of a filter!

Anyone who says size doesnā€™t matter has issues, this is the biggest K+N filter I could find, the mounting flange is 6" diameter, Iā€™m just waiting for the 6" to
5" expander pipe to show up and I can start mounting this monster up under the dash. The next hurdle is how to get the cold air from under the back end of the cowl scoop inside the car - if not when the blower kicks in the driver will be sucked into the procharger I think???
Itā€™s all a laugh really and after my Skyline windsheild arrived broken at Hybrid yesterday I could do with something to smie about, ho hee humā€¦

 Holy shit!

Looks great !
