Right Hand Drive '69 Barracuda

That’s a nutty sized 'charger. I approve!

it’ll suck up pets and small children…
the old wheel tubs are now out and we’ve discovered that the new rims are ass backwards- grr, someone swapped the offest measurement over and the nice shiny side of the wheel works great when it’s mounted to the inside of the car- AGGGGGHHHHHH.
Ho hee hum, if it was easy then they’d all be doing it eh…
More pics to follow.

I really can’t wait to see this thing in action.

Of course some idiot still has to get in the driving seat and press the gas pedal down- eek…

Well it almost got back on it’s wheels last night, next slight (??) problem is monster blower plate doesn’t fit the existing mounts in the engine bay so all that has to come out, along with half of the inner fender to clear the blower, ho hee hum nothing’s ever easy…
Still it’s a sunny morning

and to add insult to injury the front bar of the rollcage is in the way of the blower too, I have a replacement on it’s way from S+W , but until that gets here we can’t do jack $#%@, now I remember why I don’t work on cars much anymore, between this and the Skyline- er well.

sweet merciful crap that motor > awesome. Can’t wait to see the Cuda in action oot and aboot

Saw the Skyline last year, definitely one of the sexiest cars I’ve ever seen up close.

someday I’ll have a barn

Well hopefully the old heap will be up and running one day soon, we’ll dial it in with the Procharger motor then swap it out for the turbo one, once it’s actually finished. I just wish that I had the time and money I used to have for these projects, these days there always seems to be something more important going on, usually involving wife, children and life in general, ho hum.

Any of you old school drag racers out there wnat to give me an opinion on what’s the best option for a transmission for this thing, I can bolt an SB 727 Torqueflite 3 speed in there, but they are expensive to build and still not much use, or take the sensible option at put a 'Glide in ?? That’s only a two speed, but I think it’ll be quicker at the drag strip, plus they are cheap and can handle LOADS of power.
Oh well off to the barn to do some more once the little varmints are asleep and with a bit of luck my good friend Dale will be arriving from England in a week or so and we can get working on a nice cowl hood for the cuda and a bunch of other panels we need to make, anyone want a nice fibreglass dash for an A body mopar- they look great:D

Is anyone awake out there??? I just got the blower in the engine bay and we dropped the cowl hood on , man this car looks BADASS!
Tom I’ll email the pics to you, I’m going back down there to get some more stuff done:headbang:

post more pics! what size blower?

Sweeeeeeet!!

If this thing lines up next to you, don’t even bother.

Looks pretty good Andy.

Thanks for that Tom very prompt service!
And I’m very pleased that this whole thing will fit together, tomorrow I will get on to Flaming River and see if the right hand drive rack is finished yet, that’s about the only thing that can hold me up now. As for the blower - what I’m going to do is cut the whole passenger side inner fender away and run a bit of 6" from the firewall to the inlet on the blower. That section of the firewall is where the stock heater box and fan fits, so there is a bunch of space behind the dash. I don’t know what kind of monsterous K+N airfilterr I can buy to go in there, but I’m sure they make stuff that’ll keep up with 4000CFM of Procharger!
To answer a previous question the blower is an old D3M unit, they are good for around 1800HP, we won’t be making anywhere near that but I’m sure it will be plenty to scare this worn out old hippy- tee hee.
Oh I am a happy man this evening, I think I’ve talked myself into a powerglide transmission, cheap, simple and reliable…
More to follow

Sounds like the glide will work great for you. If it’s a bit sluggish, you just need to step up and make some more power.

:Well I do have a couple of sets of pulleys Brent, so if we don’t make enough torque to get the old heap moving I can turn the boost up a bit.
For reference there’s a nut case in Michigan who used to race an old 60’s Nova with more or less the same set up you see here, drag radials, Caltracs suspension and a SBC motor with a D3M with blow through carb set up.
He went 8.16 in that car at 3200lbs years ago.
This thing of mine will be much more tame as I want to drive it on the street a little bit. Hopefully I have all my sums right and the damned thing actually works- we did have a small set back today someone’s trodden on and bent the oil spray bars from out of the pan, hopefully the NASCAR shop this old engine came from have some spares laying around- or I’m screwed!

Now some more bench racing for you, figure this out 1.76 first gear in the glide, a 3.54 rear end gear with a 30" tall tire- we’ll run a Trans Brake and maybe a two step limiter, I wonder how much torque those MT Street radials will hold without spinning???
Did I mention I broke a bone in my neck and I’m REALLY NOT supposed to be doing this silly shit anymore:D

I know someone who could pilot it for you. Ya know, with your health and best interests in mind. :D:D

And I can’t believe how well the 67 cuda cowl hood fits the 69 body shape, I think we can modify the mold a bit and make it a perfect fit- we shall see.
I need to order up a nice big Autometer boost pressure gauge to go up next to the cowl in that cup - hum…

Yes my reactions are not what they once were and the general medical opinion is that my head might actually fall off one of these days- still if you are going to go out it might as well be in style!
I got the Skyline to keep me under control, predictably that project got out of control too

:headbang: Might as well live it up until you absolutely can’t anymore.

And, yeah, that hood looks mean as hell.

Still no news on my right had drive steering rack they are all in a meeting and will call me back…
