Right Hand Drive '69 Barracuda

Thanks Tom, listen if ANYONE wants an RB 30 all the from Oz’ let me know, I have Mr. Newman’s GT3040 turbo here too, a few changes and you’d have some serious Nissan HP, the turbo needs a re-build, but that’s not too much money.
I need space in my barn and I have engines and bits of Skyline EVERYWHERE!!!
Good to see the old dart again, great car that was although that iron RAM clutch and the Lenco was serious hard work on the street. It did run a 10.0 with 3.54 gears and a 30" tire, so it was making a bit of torque…

Well my trip’s been put back until the weekend so I have some more time to waffle on about oily old muscle cars!
The Caltracs just showed up from CA, and tomorrow there is a bunch of other stuff arriving, maybe - IF the temperature gets anywhere above freezing in my garage I might go in and do a bit tomorrow evening??
I’m going to re use the 3.54 gears and the spool from the Dart in the new Dana axle, the first gear in the new transmission is a 2.48, so HOPEFULLY we won’t blow the tires off trying to get this lardy old lump away from the lights- we shall see eh?
And who needs wheelie bars!

Good to know there will be some serious DRAG cars running around this summer. Can’t wait til spring!

this guy is the fucking man

Did any of you guys ever see any of these 10.5 tire cars running in leaf springs at the track- oh my word it gets exciting!
I went to Mid Michigan a while back and saw some of them running, they look like the old fuel altered cars of the 60’s - looks like a hell of a ride- now which fool is going to dirve this thing- hum…

Well the new Mickey Thompson radial front runners are now mounted on the 3 1/2" Centerlines, the relocation kit has arrived to move the springs in and I’ve unpacked the new spring set-up.
The special magnesum NASCAR bellhousing is headed for the transmission guy’s shop so he can make the adapter while I’m away, now all I need to do is get a block and heads to Tilberg’s place in PA, before Saturday- which ain’t going to happen…
Still we’re making progress

Serious.

Andy, I cleared out my inbox, your last PM was dumped - please resend.

Between this and the Skyline, I still want a ride in… both :stuck_out_tongue:

will do, I just got back from NYC clutching my new passport nothing can stop me now…

And that my young friends is probably he most advance pushrod V8 made to date, 6 bolt mains, it’s got SIX 60mm roller cam bearings, the heads flow insane amounts of air. Plus the NASCAR guys run their engines extremely lean to get good gas mileage- so they are built to run at very high temperatures. I have a brand new Bryant billet crank for this thing a new set of 8.5:1CR turbo pistons from JE.
We’re going to give the heads a give cleanup and a valve job, re-use the existing Ti valves and dyno it with a special cam we have, get some #'s then start on the turbo set up.
I can only guess what this thing will make normally aspirated, we already know they make around 850HP @12:1CR with a carb!

Oh I forgot I’m signing off, gotta plane to catch, back 2/22, more updates then, while I’m away the guys should be installing the new rear end in the car, plus the transmission case will arrive so they can cut the trans tunnel out and get the drive line situated- fun times ahead

Not sure if the above link will work, but if it does, turn the volume up on your computer and feel the thunder!
my old hemi dart on street tires, through 4" flowmasters and using 3.54 gears and a 30" tall tire. a .570" lift mechanical cam and a single Dominator, we put some 4.10’s in it and it went 9.90 next time out…

Mopar 3" inboard spring kit fitted ( well tacked in ) Caltracs fitted and look they will work. New Dana 60 axle housing is now sitting on the leaf springs, not sure I have the front spring boxes in exactly the right place and the only real way to find out is to pop the axles in and fit the rear wheels and see where they sit , in realtion to the wheel opening??
We have a B’ body spring in an A body car, with tires way bigger than stock, man what a juggling act this is becoming, I hope all of my guesses are close to the truth.
Still what’s the worst thing that can happen eh…

Just got back from the local Dodge Dealership they are pressing the axle bearings on to the new Strange Engineering axles for me and I stopped off at the metal supply place and picked up 2 pieces of 2"x3" 11 guage steel tube, yep it’s new frame connector time.
I might even get the new wheels on it tonight, I have the bug again, this is a good thing.
I just hope my guess as to the position for the front spring boxes was accurate- we shall see.
And I registered for that picture place TruBlue recommended so I might even be able to post some pics…

Let me know if you need a hand with pics - or working on the fish.

I’ll email a few over now Tom, tomorrow’s the big day for getting the back wheels on, just need to cut the factory tubs out first, to make some room.
I’ve been thinking about the transmsisson and I may just shove a torqueflite in the thing, three speeds is enough, they don’t weigh much and with modern bits in there it should live behind the Procharger motor- I REALLY want to have this thing at the Rhinebeck car show the first weekend in May. We shall see?

I have no I dea how I missed this thread…WOW!

Big tee up thur man. I know some people (me inclded) that would kill for that cuda…even a ride in it.

Great collection.

If all goes well I will get the old heap up to the Rhinebeck show in May, I have a motor built for it already, from somewhere I need to find a trans’
So if anyone out there has a seriously BUILT SB TF727 I’ll be interested, although at this late stage I think you’ll need to take food stamps in payment…
Maybe we’ll drop the engine in tomorrow, that big old D3M Procharger looks like it grew in the engine bay. I have to take the Plasma cutter to the inner fender though- ooops…
Come on Tom post some pictures- thanks man!
Listen I’ve got to grab some zzzzz’s tomorrow’s going to be a long day.
Cheers A.

 :bday:

Oh dear Tom people will think I’ve gone soft, still middle aged parenthood is a bizarre thing to say the least…
Hum today’s the day for getting the back wheels on and dropping the car down on it’s wheels to see if the axle is in the correct location.
Next we have to fabricate the new frame connectors to tie those new front spring boxes to the front torsion bar mounts.
I think it should all work out ok and that 2x3 tube is 11 gauge mild steel so I’m not anticipating much flex- tee hee.
I can buy and ‘off the shelf’ torque flite tranny for this motor and then sell both motor and trans off once the turbo lump is finished.
Convential drag theory would say that 3.54 gears and a 30" tall tire wouldn’t work- but that’s because they have 8" 5000RPM stall converters and tall slicks. Wait 'til that Procharger kicks in, the damned thing’s as big as Honda engine…
Ah another mad scheme comes together finally, thanks for posting the pics Tom, much appreciated.
