thinking about buying some 18inch rims
is this a good idea for an s13?
stock rims for the car are at 15 inches
any information would be great
Some 18 inch rims fit, some dont… what is it you want to know? :dunno:
Personally I think it’s a stupid idea. They’re heavy, and usually look stupid and ricey. But maybe you like that sort of thing.
IMO on s13 18’s look rediculus cause they are so big.
Highest I would go is 17
Andrew.
no way, i bought 17’s and wish i went with 18’s, the 240’s wheelwells are big and unless you lower your car right down, i’d go with 18’s. And im no ricer
I know others that agree with that. I was told by a few people to go with 18s as well.
I have seen 18s on a s13 before and I thought they look really good, but that’s a lot of unsprung weight your adding.
my buddie has 18’s on his s13 and they look decent,
it depends on the rims you buy too…
i’ll try to find some pix
if its a looks car…then do whatever you think looks good
performance wise the bigger the rim the slower you will be going
the slower you’ll accelerate… the faster youll be going top end-wise … i know that’s what you meant, just clarifying for the rest.
I think he meant rubber weighs less than most metals wheels are made from.
Whether you’re using a 195/60 on a 15" wheel, or a 225/35 on an 18" wheel, the overall diameter of the wheel remains the same, as will your top speed - though it will probably be less with the 18 since it requires more power to spin as fast.
You also know that bigger the wheel the less WHP.
Even if it is same wieght as stock, weight is further away from centre so it takes more to spin it.
Same goes for bigger brakes.
Andrew.
lets bring out those 13 inch rims from those geos
or bust out those go kart rims!
Mine look like 18’s on my car and I would say they look good
im sorry guys just something to add because i work at a tire shop and this is all i hear from civics and shit. “18’s add too much wieght, ill lose power” but in all honesty, unless your making a track car buy whatever you want. when thinking about it, you prolly have audio equipment adding wieght and body kits adding some more (not saying all of you) but you get what im saying? if your going for all around looks and street performance the extra wieght shouldnt really be an issue
It’s actually very noticeabale. Rotating mass effectively wieghs MUCH more than something static like a stereo.
No, don’t go higher than 16" diameter or +25 offset.
