Had a lot of fun in my first car.
My Suzuki built 92 Geo Tracker convertible was probably the best cars I’ve owned from a reliability standpoint.
No Kizashi? Oh well.
West side Puerto Ricans are going to be so mad.
I know…zero people, that have owned a Suzuki.
Kind of a shame to see them go, but it won’t affect me at all…
I drive bi ki-po every day. I noticed that the inventory was dwindling and not being replenished
meh.
In St. Lucia, this was the most popular make of cars I saw. Suzuki sidekicks were crazy popular!
Life hasn’t been the same since they discontinued the X-90.
Gesundheit.
My dad had one. Had a JX 16v tin top 4x4 sidekick too.
Ha fail nvm the car was an isuzu not a suzuki
Who was Suzuki?
Won’t be missed here.
rotfl^^^
I had a JLX. Had to love the power button. I don’t think it did anything but I always flipped the switch at red lights.
Decent gas mileage and I went off roading on occasion as well, plus if you got stuck you and a couple buddies could push it out.
Glad their powersports division is not affected, they make some decent stuff. Cars they just don’t have the scale or brand here to be competitive. Maybe they can private label produce an economy car for one of the big manufacturers overseas.
My wife has a 2011 SX4: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?224985-Suzuki-SX4-Crossover-AWD-(my-wife-finaced-one)&highlight=sx4
The warranty will still be honored, no big deal there. I was planning on keeping it until the wheels feel off so not really concerned with resale value based on brand perception.
Suzuki spent $0 advertising and sold ~1,400 SX4s a mounth, Kia has dancing hamsters and sell ~15,000+ Souls a month. My perception is the Japan built SX4 is a better vehicle than the Korean. My decision to look at the SX4 goes back to a 2007 article on carANDdiver.com, and not much has changed much going into the 2013 model year. I’m cheap, the SX4 was the cheapest AWD car on the market and it had 0% financing.
One problem is that some of the previous 2006 and older zuks were Korean/Daewoo pieces (Reno/Forenza), the 2007+ line up was improved, but without any good advertising:
I’m not a Suzuki advocate, but it may be worth watching dealerships trying to sell off new inventory cheap… CVTs are Nissan units:
SX4 sedan: just a FWD 4 banger, 150 ish hp, mediocre MPG
SX4 sportback: same as above with a hatch, maybe stiffer suspension or bigger wheel option
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/hatchbacks/1204_economy_five_door_hatchback_comparison/viewall.html (posted best lateral acceleration and 2nd best figure 8 and gets criticized on handling)
SX4 crossover: same as above with AWD and 1" lift, available with either stick or CVT
Kizashi: 185ish hp, good reviews on handling, little bit underpowered, bigger than a compact but too small to compete directly with Accord, Altima, Mazda 6, stick or CVT with FWD, AWD CVT only. Stupid name.
Grand Vitara: still on a ladder frame when the competition is unibody, good off roader, who takes these off road?
Equator: this is a re-badged Nissan Frontier, but with better financing and a better warranty…
Never knew the Equator existed…pretty cool
