To give you a feel for this scooter, I weight 165lbs. I have driven it to work (20 miles each way) from Wexford to Southside, MANY times, traveling on 279N/S. Top Speed is close to 70MPH. It gets from 0-50mph very fast with the CVT. I am 6’1" and am VERY comfortable on it. The back seat is VERY comfortable and has its own backrest(trunk), foot pads, and handles.
I ordered this from California via a freight/trans-shipping company. A lot of people have had troubles recently registering these in PA from the fresh certificate that comes with these new (not a title). I have had this registered now for 2 years and have the PA Title in hand!
These Chinese made scooters have fuel lines that don’t hold up to U.S. gas. I replaced most of the fuel and vaccum lines and have also installed an electronic motorcycle 4.5 psi fuel pump with a fuel pressure regulator at 4psi. This was suggested to me on some other forums when I purchased it. I have NEVER had any problems with this thing running, starting, idling, WOT. I have had 2 rockets in the past and this has been far more fun to “scoot” around on than them.
The Roketa’s use a GY6 motor which is common among Kart racers from my understanding. You can replace just about every part on this (its like the Honda civic of the scooter community) with aftermarket parts. I know there are many complaints with Chinese scooters (poor build quality etc…) but this seems to have been assembled quite well. The only thing I replaced so far is the windshield which came cracked. I would suggest replacing the CVT belt before the next full season of riding as they are supposedly pretty cheap from China too. There are Kevlar ones on ebay for around $60 or so. I haven’t had any issues thus far. They take about 15 minutes to change.
Any questions feel free to ask. It is 150cc so you must have insurance on it; I pay $6 a month on my Erie car insurance policy. I have the VIN number available if anyone needs it to check.
There is a ton more info on these at scootdawg.com including a forum and parts.
