Ron's 1997 Pontiac Grand AM

The car doesnt have very much done to it.

First up is the 2.3L HO intake manifold swap with the 2.3L TB. The intake manifold itself is bigger, and the TB that comes on all 2.3L quad 4’s is 56mm compared to the stock 2.4L Twin Cams TB that is 52mm.

This is the intake manifold before with a cheap ebay intake on it.

And this is the new manifold, and cheap ebay intake cut up to fit.

Doing this swap on the 2.4L Twin Cam (96-98 only) removes the EGR. So for awhile I was just driving around with a check engine light on. Then I went out to see Jeff at 1st-try. We came up with a setup that hookes up whte EGR agian. Ive been driving around for over a year without a check enigne light on. In the future i would like to have the design cleaned up some. But for now it works, and thats all that matters.

looks much cleaner, :bigthumb:

The car also has a 2.5inch catback, with carsound cat, magnaflow resinator, and borla pro xs muffler and tip (the tip is kinda lame) But I dont have pictures of it.

The car has a strut tower brace from the older convertable cavaliers (2nd gen) on the front, and a mantapart rear strut tower brace.

I dynoed the car at the first pittspeed dyno day, it made a whopping 123whp and 131ft/lbs. This was with just the intake manifold and ebay intake.

The best 1/4 mile passes I have made so far.

For the near future I would like to get a spec clutch. But right now, I have next to no money, and I need to get my car fixed (horn doesnt work, and the suspension has a cluncking sound coming from it)

the car is clean :bigthumb:

you notice anything with the strut tower brace? I used to have a 97 GT and I remeber that thing being really front heavy…and I could feel it a lot.

looking impressively clean.

i have a mantapart rear swaybar with urethane bushings on my 92 GA. I really dont remember if the cars share the same rear suspension setup. if they do ill sell it to you for real cheap.

jimmy

not really. I mean im sure it helps, and for like $30-$40 from a GM dealer, or less from a junk yard, its an ok mod.
