Roofing experts,
Do you recommend ridge venting on a garage roof that is not connected to the house and it is not heated? Or, does it really matter?
Roofing experts,

Do you have an exhaust pots on the roof or would the ridge vent be the only venting?
I feel that you need to have something up there. If not, you will significantly reduce the life expectancy of the shingles from the heat in the summers.
My garage is the same thing that you are describing-it is about 3 feet from the house with a walk way between the two. I have ridge vents under the ridge cap. Do you have vents in the eves?
I have no ventilation in the garage. The company that came and installed my new roof was suppose to do one, as in the contract, but didn’t. I will call them again today.
Yes. My garage is not heated and not connected to the house. 2 story. Do it. Plus it will match the house =]
Thats what I told them lol They will be over in the next few days to install one.
SOOOO many companies are just a collection of random fuck tards. My parents house had a tree hit it in a wind storm last fall. So my dad has this company re-do the roof and gutters that got destroyed. The fuckers didn’t put ANY downspouts on the one run, so essentially, he had a 50’ long water collector that would just spill over on to a lower roof. FUCKING IDIOTS. So we dug a channel about 4’ deep, layed done a nice bed of stone, put in a pipe, and tied that in to a drain pipe, and then tied the downspout into that. The difference in water that would get into the basement is pretty much all but eliminated, they have an old style Tales from the Crypt basement.
Got my ridge vent installed on the garage.
