The sports car club at my school (RPI) hosts 3 autocrosses a semester and this coming Saturday (9/13) is the first one! I believe 10am is set-up time, 11am is tech, and we are racing by 1130am. I had hoped to post info about it sooner, but it was just confirmed tonight. We are generally done by 230 or 3.
The courses are set up on one of the parking lots on campus map below and are generally very tight courses where 2nd gear is rarely achieved. Prices: $10 for the day, or $20 for the semester. This includes 6 or 9 officially timed runs (typically 9, depends on turnout) and a few extra free runs in the end if you feel inclined to do so. Also, use of community helmets are available.
Apparently there is a chance of rain on Saturday, so do check the weather forecast the night before/morning of because we don’t run in the rain. If it does rain on Saturday, Sunday will be race day. If it is raining on Sunday too, the SCCA is having their own autocross, rain or shine, on Sunday in Albany. I don’t many details about that one though.
Wait so whos going to this, never done an autox and really want to, the only problem I could see is that Im missing a lugnut on my rear driverside wheel… althou unless they take the caps off they wont see it
A: My Infiniti G20t, Lowered on Teins S-techs with KYB G2’s… and shitty ass snow tires on the front from last winter, they make a lot of noise.
B: My 300ZX, Big, heavy, missing a stud in the rear… stock suspension, but might be fun
