I’m not sure if anyone on here goes to these events, but the is one coming up on May 2nd. It’s basically a 27 mile trail through woods and all types of terrain with a ton of other riders (mostly quads but dirtbikes are out there too.) Check out the web site: http://rumbleontheridge.homestead.com/
I never went to that event, but I do go to alot of the fireman poker runs which are about the same distance. They’re a blast. Madera, Ramey, and Lilly are usually the best ones.
My friends dad took his Rhino last year I believe… he told me yesterday that this ride was coming up again in a few days. I would like to take my Rhino out… he said it was a blast last year.
It is definitely a good time, I never knew how much shit you could get through with those side-by-side’s until I seen them there last year…
its a pretty good ride, lots of fun. bunch of guys from my cousins shop went out last year. it gets kinda crowded at times, but there’s lots of stupid people to watch swamp their machines. it was real muddy last year with that thick sticky clay mud but still a good time. lots of air cooled machines blew up cuz the head/cyl fins caked with mud so be sure to keep an eye on ur fins and rad. def worth the drive out there to goof off for a while.
Its funny you say that… when I 1st bought my Rhino… the 1st week I owned it… I was thinking… I dunno, I just spent $10,000 on this thing and I might have been better off buying a new Grizzly. Then the next weekend I went riding with 6 other Rhinos out Creek Falls… and man I couldn’t believe what these people were doing and I was following just fine. After that day, I fell in love with it… You won’t believe how steep of hills they will climb and how much water they can ford. I can honestly say I doubt I will ever not own a SxS!
Yeah I was out there and that mud was bad for the liquid cooled machines the most it seemed…i had no problems on my air cooled…
I’m liquid cooled this year though so hopefully I dont have any problems
Im out… its going to be a sloppy mess out there!
We have a couple crazy kids on Razors that are jumping MOST of the jumps on the dirtbike track we built out here. Now they’re not huge gaps or anything, but they’re getting a solid 40’ out of them… big faces with a gap and a table-top like landing… we’re getting old
kids were jumping 40 feet on a scooter??? that’s badass
that takes balls tho. ive seen dudes case jumps on those and get balled up. its not like you can really help correct it to save it, if something goes wrong. you are kinda just along for the ride. lol
Yup… I know all about that one! I hit the front of my Rhino in a drainage ditch so hard once it almost flipped forward, it was nearly vertical forward but never flipped all the way over… it landed back on all 4’s. It hurt like a bitch… defiantly same as a 30-35mph car crash. That’s really all you need to worry about in a SxS… you hit a ditch and frame the front out… its bad news… like shatter your teeth / bite your tongue off if it happens fast enough.
werent ppl get messed up when they tip sideways too? ppl putting their legs out to try to stop it from tipping and it busting their leg. i think thats why they recalled them to put those half-doors on them. but i still think you can get messed up on them. i think they r awesoem tho, but for crazy shit, id probly rather have a quad, just my preference
Oh yeah… I would defiantly rather have a YFZ450r for doing really stupid shit, lol
People were getting hurt… but obviously they were not well rounded riders. Who in their right mind is going to put their leg out to try and support a 1200lb vehicle coming down on them, lol… not to be ignorant, but they deserve it for being such an idiot. Also… anything with 4 wheels will roll if you push it to the extreme. Yes the Rhino could be an inch wider all the way around… I put ITP wheels on my Rhino when I 1st bought it which are offset about an inch and it makes all the difference in the world, so maybe thats why I never really tip mine.
I have tipped my Rhino 2 times… but it never tumbles, it just tips on its side and lays there… but I was also doing really off camber stuff and knew there was a good chance for it to tip… but honestly… if you have riding experience you should be able to ride it all day long and not roll it.
We take ours to the extreme and rarely tip them… there such a blast.
Yeah but if you’re not expecting it to roll then and you’ve rode dirtbikes all your life it IS your natural reaction to stick your leg out… not so much a stupid thing… Now if you’re just crawling through some stuff and you know you’re in a precarious situation to begin with… well… yeah that’s not all that bright. I’ve caught myself a couple times on crotch rockets trying to put my leg out/dabbing a foot when going through a tight corner… lol.
I went to the Rumble a few years ago. The first couple of miles were like a holeshot. Then it cleared out for a few miles then all the knuckleheads that buried their quads up to the handlebars caused a standstill. It was nice being on a bike and just being to go around everything.
