I have rear 245/45/17 falken azenis. Is it okay to run different front tires? If so which ones would you recommend? I am going to get 235/45s in the front,*they don’t offer azenis in this size unless i go down to a 225
i may still get azenis but they’re 320$ for the pair new, and im not going to be able to rotate them so im assuming they will wear down pretty quickly.
Or if anyone wants to buy my rears they’re about 80% and i would sell them for 150$ firm.
Are you asking about staggered sizes, or different brands of tire? I run a 245/45/17 rear and 225/50/17 front on my Mustang and love the set-up. If you’re talking about running different brands your car will still get from point A to point B…I just think it looks goofy.
If you HAVE to have 45 series (which makes absolutely no fucking sense) the closest tire to the Azenis 615(K) is the Direzza Star Spec. Why? Because they are both made by Sumitomo Rubber Co. (even rumored to have the same compound (which I am sure is unfounded B.S.)):
If it was my car I’d figure out a way to get 245s to work in both the front and rear and take advantage of being able to rotate the tires time to time.
Actually I’d would never recommend a tire size other than OEM.
So you’re saying, that by having different tires, my car will some how start a fire? And when i clicked on “let me google that for you” it didn’t even come up in the search results.
Why not a 45series? Do you really want to have that much taller of a tire in the rear if it were 225/40 or 235/40?
oem is 215/45/17 i think, and 245/40/17
I could do 245/45 all around but i will have to pull my fenders, and get higher offset wheels.
215/45 is stock front size… 24.6" diameter.
235/40 (what I suggested) …24.4" diameter. (front will be lowered .1" under stock)
245/40 (on all four corners)… 24.7" diameter. (front will be raised .05" over stock)
235/45 (what he wants)… 25.4" diameter. (front will be raised .4" over stock)
225/45 (his 1st alternative)… 25.0" diameter (front will be raised .2" over stock)
You are missing the point that i already HAVE 245/45s
“Do you really want to have that much taller of a tire in the rear if it were 225/40 or 235/40?” If i put what you suggested in the front, it will be a lot taller in the rear, is what i was getting at.
