I got a 98 s10 with manual windows. If I find a power windows & locks s10 parts truck, I wouldn’t have to replace a whole in cab wiring harness do I?
Most likely would be my guess. GM used to do separate harnesses in the full size trucks up to 94 I believe, but after they went for the integrated harnesses.
That being said, if you get yourself the wiring diagram for it, you may be able to make your own harness to run under the dash and to the fused location. My guess is that it’s 2-4 wires at most assuming it does not need to be part of any bus system GM used.
You will likely be able to get everything from Ebay store “s10warehouse” unless you have a donor. The easiest way would be to get power doors. They would be cheap enough to make it worth it.
I would check out your Truck first and see if it is wired. Look in the fuse box for the power window circuit. If the relay block is populated with terminals you can do a continuity check to make sure everything is connected. Just add relays and your golden.
Worse comes to worse just wire it yourself: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f202/manual-to-power-windows-how-to-316636/
Even if you have to wire it yourself you can still use factory switches. There are a ton of ways to do it.
I do these conversions A LOT on base vehicals … super easy and fast to do
I use ebay reg/motor units oe spec … not the garbage spal universal kits …
And I get boneyard door panels and switches
^ Do you know if base trucks 94-97 and 98+ are prewired?
Yea that’s what would be awesome to know. I’d love to just grab 2 complete doors to strip and switch over plug and play style.
Nothing is prewired
