s13 Middle Vent removal

anyone know how to get them out with out breaking them? i think im going to put some gagues there.

Ya they just snap out.

Be verry careful and use butter knives.
Like 4 of them to get an even removal.

I wonder if anyone’s thought of putting their gauges under the steering
column. Normall near your knees. Since I (and I assume most of you
as well) sit far back enough, my knees never come up anywhere near
the bottom of the column area.

I’m gonna try putting my gauges there when I do go with an SR…

Plus they’ll conceal better this way…

i got it out yaa… i would put it there but i dont have enough line to hook up over there. im pushing it at the vents.

wait till you put a racing seat… :frowning:

Is there some real good reason to be sitting very close to the steering? I
see all them race drivers (rally, nascar, indy, f1, touring, etc.) doing it.

I’m 6ft, so I sit far back enough as far as the stock rails go.

Hrm, I’ll prolly think of something when the time comes. I would like
to keep my goodies as hidden as possible.

Though if the gauges were under the sterring wheel will you beable to see them? And be able to read them from that far without distracting your driving?

i’m 6 feet too, but i like to sit close. had to do with my clutch, has no top play, so it feels more comfortable. But, i like Philips idea, that would be a cool spot to put them.

man it is all about my gauge position!
i bolted an L-braket to the dash left of steeringwheel and the boost gauge to the L-bracket, looks pretty sweet. 8)

but it is in good vision.

This was done on FA. If you do a search, someone actually posted pics of the fabrication process.

So what gauges are normally put on an SR motor?

I would assume:

  • Turbo (boost)
  • Oil pres.
  • Fuel Pressure
  • Air/Fuel ratio
  • Water temp
  • Exhaust gas temperature (EGT)

Anything else?

Get a Analogue A/F Gauge not one of those LED ones.
