Since 240coupe did my 5 spd. swap and engine install, there’s loose wiring, no reverse lights etc… I’m aiming to correct these things one by one. Not to start a flame war with him, but just saying, that is the origin of my issue, moving on>
The wire from the speed sensor is hanging and swinging side to side next to the passenger frame rail and clutch slave. Basically, whenever I brake, or a certain movement happens, my speedometer comes to life, otherwise it’s dead, or cutting in and out. Definitely seems like a bad connection in that wire, and not the cluster, where most people’s speedo issues are rooted. I also threw a code for the speed sensor circuit, no CEL, just a code stored in the ECU. I check it periodically to make sure I don’t have a code 34 popping up again.
My questions is this: should I cut the 2 wires a few inches from the speed sensor on the transmission, then splice in a new wire all the way to the terminating gray plug?
The reason for this thread’s existence: I hate electrical work. lol Has anyone attempted this? Any advice? If any of you have a fucked speed sensor with a good wire on it, let me know.
Thanks guys. I am already regretting typing up this thread, it seems so pointless, sorry to anybody who gets pissed. clicks submit
