I have been looking Into the various choices of engine swaps availible for the 240sx. I have been doing some research and i’d like to some knowlegable opinons on what sort of potential the “S15 SR20DET Black Top” engine has with the typical racing modifacations; I.E; Performance Internals, Turbo/Intercooler etc. upgrade, Exhaust, Intake, etc…

What sort of power figures could you be looking at?

I’m looking to spend between $5,000-$8000, building the motor for circuit use.

dude, 8 g’s into any sr, and u could run 10’s maybe 9’s

Maybe if its installed already. 8 grand isnt much for a swap considering this guy wants an S15.

S15 engine really doesnt have much advantages over the S14 which is considerably cheaper. Sure you get a little more hp but the cost of driveshaft and/or rear diff to make the 6spd work negates the gain since you could put the extra cash into an S14 and it will be just as quick.

Thanks for the info. About the swap/build; i dident mean 8 grand total swap and build. I’m looking to putting 5 - 8 grand in the engine build it self.

you could be hittin 5-600hp with that money you would probably be better off getting a s14 black top switching the tranny or if you already have the s15 then you could be looking pretty high horse power gains

get an s14 SR and do a nice rebuild with it. 8 Grand can be a lot if your going all the work yourself, but if your planning on taking this to a shop that money will disappear faster than you could imagine.
