I understand that they’ve been urging it for quite some time, but I don’t think they took into consideration what type of impact a requirement would have on processing requirements. They were nowhere near ready to handle the increased volume of applications, which is poor planning.
I might be flying to Vancouver this March to ski at Whistler, and I need to get a new passport because the last time I needed one, I was 14 years old. I need to file practically now to get one in order to be sure that I recieve it in time to be able to make the trip.
it was myself and 4 others, none of us had 1. when we got off the boat, customs just asked for our ID, birth certificate and customs declaration form. thats ALL
call the cruise lines to confirm so you know whats going on. it didnt make things any faster or slower if we had or didnt have a passport too. not like there was separate lines or anything. first come first serve. this was on carnival by the way

well a careful reading of the terms and conditions of this trip yielded that i needed a passport OR my driver’s license and a notarized copy of my birth certificate. i don’t have a copy of it but that would be certainly easier to obtain. thanks for the info. i’ll be calling royal caribbean.
Cliffs:Travelers in dire need of a passport should reach out to the federal government’s executive customer service department, which, ironically, is the legislative branch.
Members of Congress have staff that excel at prodding executive agencies into action. Call your Member of Congress’ district office and ask to speak with a Constituent Liaison.
