Like I said, you are not receiving a bitstream of DTSMAHD, you are receiving a decoded sound stream as linear PCM (lossless). So, you are not going to see the light on because it is not getting the data as DTSMAHD. The firmware version in the HDMI hardware in the PS3 was not made to bitstream it (Sony does not make this hardware). However, having the PS3 do the decoding is actually better, because it makes it available to all the people that can handle full Linear PCM, but cannot decode DTSMAHD. You will not gain anything having your receiver do it instead of the PS3 (if you could bitstream it).

This is the 80gb model btw.
This is just from what i have read on deal forums. not sure if it actually works. don’t see why it wouldn’t though.
well, im not sure what to do as of now, i might be getting a new receiver that supports all the formats so then i can just get a regular brd and be done with it, id rather have my receiver do all the work.
Does HDDVD Blu-Ray and everything else, there are some titles currently on hddvd that wont make it to blu ray for quite some time.
Supports all of those formats you are looking for as well.
As far as new receivers, the Denon AVR-2808 would do everything you need it to do, and supports some formats that have yet to be used on a medium, its ahead of the curve.
Super Blu is $599 normally. and the 2808 is $1199 normally, if you were to to get both of them from me, Im sure I could work something out for you.
Let me know.
Other than That, The Sony Blu-ray S350 just got lowered to $299 from $399.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
And just so you know, Marantz makes a Blu-ray player that is made out of god like components and is about $6000.
grab the ps3, so when your 360 goes RRoD , you don’t go thru withdrawls.
why get a blu ray player that only plays blu rays?
Thats like buying a DVD player when you could of had a ps2.
why do you still talk when you could hang yourself with your shoe laces?
why didnt your parents leave you in a dumpster when you were born?
why did your mom let your dad blow it inside her?
The PS3 is poor as a BD player as far as im concerned.
Got one to solely play BD’s and it failed after updating the firmware. Wouldnt read BD discs, plays DVD’s and functions fine otherwise. And i hear it happens often…
And it doesnt support some formats, is kinda large, puts off lots of heat, etc…
