ok, i just want to make sure if this is the real problem. my car starts to make screeching sounds if i rev it past 3k rpm, and only when the car warmed up, or if its being driven for over 15 mins. its definetely the timing chain right?
if i were to replace it, would my engine run slightly stronger?
It’s your belts!@ They’re probably loose or old and when your motor goes past a certain rpm they will slip on the pulley and screech. Just change them, it’s not hard and no big dent in the pocket book.
Yes check your belts, if they are new or replaced recently, then they may just be dry, use some all purpose lube and spray it on them and it should go away. Now would also be the time to check your belts to see if they are old or cracked, if they are replacing them would be advised.
I also had screeching above 3K. My belts are pretty new also. Since the weather has cooled off a bit, it has gone away, but if I hear it again I think I spray them as mentioned above. I have also been noticing that it sounds like she’s sucking in a lot of air, or she’s restricted (in other words, my truck engine sounds like a truck engine ). I checked the air filter and it’s a bit dirty but not enough to block anything. Is this the sign of something else going or ? It does sound pretty sweet when taking off slow though.
Im having a similar problem with my sr, when i hit 4000rpm it makes a loud rattling noise that sounds like complete ass. When i rip by other cars I can hear the sound much louder, as it bounces off the others cars body panels. Im gonna check my belts, but I dont think this is the prblem.
